Virginia Takes Woke To Extreme, Raises Taxes, Welcomes Fraud, Creates Chaos, Hates America
I have to be honest; Abigail Spanberger makes my skin crawl. I wrote a column in October of last year after Spanberger had debated Winsome Earle-Sears, and I couldn’t believe the cold arrogance of Spanberger. She flat-out refused to answer some questions, talked around too many others, and never once made eye contact with her opponent.
Most of the Democratic Party is made up of people who, for various reasons, are easy to loathe. Spanberger represents a new layer of that loathing. She is a stone-cold liar who always has a smarmy smirk on her face that reeks of unjustified arrogance that, in my humble opinion, seems almost psychotic.
During her sham campaign, Spanberger tried her best to come across as a more moderate Democrat. Notice I said more of a moderate, because there are no moderate Democrats, and after witnessing that display during the debate, I knew the voters in Virginia were being lied to. In fact, I ended that October column in this way.
“This election should be a no-brainer for the voters in Virginia. Earle-Sears obviously cares about the people of the state and the policies initiated to govern them in the best way.”
“Spanberger, on the other hand, cares only about falling into lockstep with the moronic ideals of the far-left democrats. Her refusal to even look at her opponent clearly demonstrates an abundance of small-minded pettiness, proving she is not capable of being the Governor of any state.”
“This is an easy one, Virginia. Do the right thing, vote for Winsome Earle-Sears for Governor, and Republican incumbent Jason Miyares for the state’s Attorney General.”
“It’s time for sanity to win again.”
Obviously, my wishful thinking for Virginia did not come true. Now those people who voted this extremist into office have shackled their state and themselves to her radical leftist and socialist whims.
On her first day in office, she took off her mask. Here are just a few of the bills they’ve introduced:
New 4.3 percent sales tax on Uber Eats, Amazon, etc. deliveries.
A new sales tax on admissions to a wide variety of businesses.
Create two new higher tax brackets of 8 percent and 10 percent on people making over $600K.
A new 10 percent tax bracket for anyone making over $1M.
3.8 percent investment tax on top of state income taxes.
Raise the hotel tax.
New personal property tax on landscaping equipment.
Ban gas-powered leaf blowers.
Guarantee illegal aliens’ free education.
Make it illegal to approach somebody at an abortion clinic.
Extend the time absentee ballots can be received after election day to three days. Allow people to cast their votes online.
Expand ranked-choice voting.
Extend the ballot-curing deadline to one week after election day.
Redact the addresses of political candidates from FOIAs.
Add Virginia to the National Popular Vote Compact for presidential electors.
Make it illegal to hand-count ballots.
$500 sales tax on firearm suppressors.
“Assault weapons” and a large capacity magazine ban.
11 Percent sales tax on all firearms and ammunition.
Prohibit outdoor shooting of a firearm on land less than five acres.
Lower the criminal penalties for robbery.
Ban the arrest of illegal aliens in courthouses.
Remove mandatory minimum sentences.
Allow localities to install speed cameras.
Replace Columbus Day with “Indigenous Peoples Day.”
Yeah, she’s moderate, alright. All of these changes are pure Gestapo, guaranteed to ensure cheating in every election in Virginia going forward, plus petty torments for every social class in the state.
When the governor of the state sets this type of example, the radical madness takes on new life, and the disease spreads to others. In a totally irrational move, Democratic state rep Jessica Anderson has introduced HB1369, a one-page bill that would ban Virginia from requiring nonprofits to verify whether people are eligible for certain federal taxpayer benefits.
Keep in mind, she proposed this bill in the shadow of the massive fraud that took place in Minnesota. Now she is openly saying she condones that type of fraud, and by proposing this bill, she is enabling it.
This is sheer madness, and it cannot be allowed to pass. Ask yourself: why would anyone amend the law so that state agencies can’t require any nonprofits, including Somali “healthcare” companies, to prove they are eligible to receive tax dollars?
This bill literally makes it illegal for state agencies to ask if you are committing fraud.
In response to this totally irresponsible attempt to defraud the citizens of Virginia, Deputy Secretary Jim O’Neil posted a simple and direct response on X:
“Not on our watch. We will invoke federal law to demand records and hold them accountable.”
The grift in Minnesota was so excessive and widespread that it’s easy to assume there were people in high places who knew what was happening. $9 billion doesn’t evaporate into thin air. This was organized fraud on such a huge scale that pure incompetence can be solely blamed.
Yet in Virginia, the brazen Democrat legislature is trying to replicate what happened in Minnesota.
Virginia used to run commercials advertising that “Virginia is for Lovers.” Those days have long passed; Virginia is now in the hands of Democrats, and the new motto is “Virginia is for Fraud.”
