Time For The Left To Admit Transgenderism Is A Mental Illness

The left’s denial of transgenderism as a mental illness has to end. This has nothing to do with individual rights or any form of self-realization; it is a person’s rejection of absolute truth.

I have written more columns than I can count on this, and I have always said the same things. Those who believe themselves to be a sex other than their biological birth sex are suffering from a delusion. I have consistently said that this type of thinking needs to be discouraged in every way, through counseling and treatment by mental health professionals.

Unfortunately, Democrats and the left seem to view this as a chance to create divisions, similar to how they have historically approached issues of race. They mask their predatory intentions by convincing certain groups that they are either oppressed or misunderstood, allowing them to claim these groups as part of their identity. By presenting a misleadingly sympathetic image, they position themselves as the compassionate party, while portraying Republicans and conservatives as the indifferent and uncaring opposition.

I am not a licensed mental health professional, but neither I nor anyone needs to be to know that if you are a biological male who believes he is female, or vice versa, there is a mental health issue. That said, there are obviously other underlying issues that can lead to other deviant and even psychotic behaviors.

Yesterday, an 18-year-old transgender high school dropout murdered his stepbrother and mother. He then made his way to the Tumbler Ridge Secondary School in the rural community of Tumbler Ridge. Once there, he killed seven others and wounded 25 before turning the gun on himself.

The murderer’s name was Jesse Van Rootselaar. The initial alert issued about an active shooter at the school on Tuesday afternoon described the shooter as a “female in a dress.”

Later, the police superintendent described the shooter as a “gunperson” in a press briefing.

Today, Royal Canadian Mounted Police Deputy Commissioner Dwayne McDonald revealed Rootselaar was “born a biological male … who approximately six years ago began to transition to female, and identified as female.”

When asked by a reporter if he believes there is any correlation between Van Rootselaar identifying as transgender and the shooting, McDonald stated that it is “too early to say.”

Really, it was too early to say?

McDonald acknowledged that police had visited the family home multiple times over the past several years due to concerns about Van Rootselaar’s mental health. On more than one occasion, he was taken into custody for assessment under the Mental Health Act.

Two years ago, firearms were seized from the home, but the lawful owner — who McDonald did not name — successfully petitioned to have them returned.

Coincidentally, two firearms were recovered at the school, including a long gun and a modified handgun. It is unclear whether they are the same weapons that were previously confiscated and returned.

The carnage included six people who were found deceased in the school, his 39-year-old mother, and his 11-year-old stepbrother, who were found at a local residence. The school victims included one female teacher, two male students, and three female students.

According to McDonald, most of the students were found in the library, and one was found in the stairwell. They ranged in age from 13 to 17, but their identities have not yet been revealed.

In addition to the deaths, approximately 25 others were injured. A few were seriously injured, but most were receiving treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.

According to McDonald, Van Rootselaar, a former student, dropped out about four years ago. It remains unclear how he accessed the building during school hours.

The recent shooting is part of a troubling trend of mass shootings by individuals who identify as transgender over the last decade.

Robin Westman, the Minneapolis school shooter who killed two kids and injured 21 others last August, identified as a transgender woman.

Audrey Hale, who killed six people at Nashville’s Covenant School in 2023, was also transgender.

Alec McKinney, who took part in the 2019 Colorado charter school shooting, was born female but identified as male.

Snochia Moseley, a transgender born male, but identified as female, murdered three and injured three others in 2018 in a Maryland Rite Aid warehouse shooting.

Obviously, not every psycho who commits a mass shooting is transgender, but all of them suffer some sort of mental illness. While some are hard to spot, that isn’t the case with transgenders, who openly declare their delusional mental illness.

The left has stigmatized calling them out. If you say anything against them, you are not helping them; you are persecuting them, and you are the one who is vilified, while the disturbed person roams free with his delusion.

You have to wonder if, on those occasions when police were called to Rootselaar’s house, more would have been done if he weren’t transgender. Even on those occasions when he was taken into custody for assessment under the Mental Health Act, was he given a pass because of the social pressure involved?

The left has to stop condoning and enabling this sickness. This is not being progressive; this is being galactically stupid. The left is not helping these people to live their best lives; they are pouring gas on the fire of individuals who are mentally disturbed and, on occasion, sending ticking time bombs into society.
