The Barack Obama Presidential Library: An Astounding Reminder of How Badly the 44th President Failed the Black Community

One of President Trump’s favorite sayings is under budget and ahead of schedule. This phrase, which the former businessmen often repeat, represents the approach Trump has taken both in the business and political world. Trump puts significant emphasis on accountability, competency, and actual results for the American people. While Obama fired no one after Benghazi or the IRS scandal, and President Biden also refused to hold himself or others accountable, no one after the failed Afghanistan withdrawal or his economists’ horrendous forecasts on inflation, Trump’s recent decision to fire former Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem again showed that the current President has much higher standards for the people in his administration.

Former President Obama was both incompetent and corrupt, his failures hurt the black community the most. The unemployment rate amongst blacks when the radical Illinois politician was in the White House reached 16.8 percent in 2010, 2 full years after the financial collapse, and remained at 7.8 percent when the 44th President left office in 2016. Obama did nothing to address the violence in the black community in urban areas, including in cities such as Chicago, where he still owns a home, and the former President also refused to even address the significant issues with the public education system in these urban areas. One of Obama’s first actions as President was to cancel a school voucher program in D.C. that had been very successful, with black kids being the primary beneficiaries. This failed record stands in sharp contrast to that of Trump, who saw near record home ownership in the black community from 2016 to 2020, in addition to record low unemployment with blacks as well.

This is why Obama’s recent construction of the Presidential library, which was a complete disaster on many levels, is yet another reminder of both what a failure the 44th President was, and who was hurt worst by his disastrous policies. The former President insisted on hiring minority contractors to build his library, and many incompetent firms were hired with this DEI-based approach. One of the consequences of this decision was the massive delays and cost overruns in the construction of the facility. Some residents in the area discussed how monthly rent has risen from $800 to $1800 a month, and others also talked about how the culture of the neighborhood was changing as well. Essentially, many residents living in the predominantly black neighborhood described the impacts of this 20-acre project that includes a museum and a park as resulting in gentrification.

The only 4 years during which middle and low-income salaries consistently rose were when President Trump was in office from 2016 to 2020. The 45th and 47th President also renegotiated NAFTA, brought inflation down, got judicial reform passed, and also emphasized policies that keep 2 parents in the home and promote school choice. While today’s failing Democrats talk endlessly about institutional racism, the facts show the two biggest issues facing the black community are a lack of fathers in the household and a failing public school system that has trapped kids in urban areas. The black community saw record-high unemployment under Obama, and historically high levels of home ownership under Trump. Obama’s failed administration was constantly overbudgeted and behind schedule, while the current President’s success in his first term earned him yet another victory in 2024.

President Obama failed in every way to lead the country, and the divisions he sowed throughout America still remain deep. Race relations in the United States were far better before the 44th President, who ran as a post-racial candidate, took over. Obama was as divisive as he was incompetent and corrupt. His Presidential library is yet another reminder of this true and important fact. Indeed, while some Americans falsely blame Trump for the country’s deep political divisions, this division clearly started under the 44th President, who was forced to play the race card to win elections after his economic policies failed.
