James Talarico: The Lipstick is Slowly Coming off this Left-Wing Pig

The term put lipstick on a pig is an old one in politics. This saying has a simple yet poignant meaning. A person can try to dress up a bad idea with all kinds of terms, ranging from the Patriot Act to the so-called Inflation Reduction Act, this terminology describes an effort to market a bad piece of legislation as something more favorable. While usually this phrase refers to legislation and political ideas, the core idea I’m talking about can apply to candidates as well. Still, with social media and the information age of today, news travels much faster than in the past, and dressing up bad ideas and weak candidates usually eventually unravels.

When new candidates are challenging well-known incumbents, oftentimes the limited knowledge most people have about the individual and their positions helps that person in the early stages of the campaign. In today’s extremely partisan political environment, most well-known politicians tend to have higher negatives because of the relentless attacks the other side engages against them. Indeed, with trust in Washington, D.C. at an all-time low in many corners of America, with 12 long years of failed policies and toxic rhetoric under Biden and Obama, there is a clear advantage in politics today for an individual to be perceived as an outsider to the federal government.

While James Talarico is decently well-known statewide in Texas after being elected as a state rep from the liberal enclave of Austin in 2018, the young progressive’s positions on many of the most important issues in the nation have not been close to fully flushed out. The 37-year-old progressive, who is the hand-picked candidate of failed former President Obama, is the definition of a pig with lipstick on. While Talarico talks about his faith and intent to enter the ministry as an ordained minister, the reality is he is just another out-of-touch leftist with positions on the most important issues of both the state and the country that are at odds with most people in Texas.

Talarico’s actions and past comments speak much louder than his empty current campaign rhetoric. The liberal stated the southern border should be welcoming for all and even actively helped illegal immigrants evade ICE as well. His claim that the US should welcome so-called asylum seekers is an absurd statement to any informed person, since nearly 90 percent of illegals do not even show up for their asylum hearings. These claims that the overwhelming majority of illegal immigrants make for refugee status are almost always fraudulent. While Talarico tries to dress up his clear open-border position by talking about keeping cartels and drug dealers out of the country, the facts are clear, the young progressive does not support limiting illegal immigration in any meaningful way.

James Talarico’s position on abortion is also absurd for someone who bills himself as Christian and an aspiring minister. The progressive State Representative does not even support bans or limitations on partial birth abortion. He has gone around the state openly advocating for what he refers to as reproductive rights. Talarico’s extreme position on abortion is not only outside of what his faith teaches, but also not even aligned with the views of most Americans. Talarico is very liberal on many social issues, including the debate around abortion rights.

While Talarico is showing up as being slightly ahead of well-known anti-establishment candidate Ken Paxton, who was viciously attacked by the fake Republican establishment in Texas, even most people in the state who know the young progressive’s name don’t truly know his extreme positions on many of the most important issues of the day. Even though the Democrats have chosen a lot of outsider candidates like Graham Platner in Maine and Talarico in Texas, these individuals are slowly but steadily beginning to be fully vetted by conservatives. Indeed, while Talarico’s fraudulent story at first blush might sound appealing to some, when the truth comes out about his far-left position, the lipstick should come off this pig fairly quickly.
