Death Of A Pastor’s Wife Reveals Symptoms Of Much Larger Problem
The Death Of The Pastor’s Wife documentary on Netflix is worth your time. It’s about a sexually obsessed pastor in South Carolina who mistreats and abuses his wife and runs around on her with a member of the church staff.
So…essentially it’s every nasty rumor and piece of gossip you ever heard about your church leadership rolled into one. Pastor John Paul Miller is a piece of work. What happened to his wife Mica Miller is tragic.
And this segues into a much bigger problem.
Too many men who are active in their churches or who profess that they are warriors for Christ are getting busted for sex crimes. Death of a Pastor’s Wife is about two consenting adults. But sometimes prominent Christians are arrested for sexually abusing children. The topic of sex crimes is something not a lot of people in the church want to talk about.

I’ve always thought of churches as hospitals for the spiritually sick and not as shrines for the righteous. Yes, a good number of men and women who are active in the church commit adultery, are just as susceptible to online porn addictions, etc., but responsible Christians — while what they did was inexcusable — don’t hide behind their faith, and they use it as a reason to reform and repent.
The Death Of The Pastor’s Wife is very telling.
But when Christian men cross the line over into abusing women and/or pedophilia then it suggests a much deeper spiritual sickness. Too many young men are growing up and becoming incels who hate women. Too many young men are growing up and finding it acceptable to pursue underage girls.

Parents and churches have got to understand this and start guiding young men with all of this in mind. Parents and churches have to understand that men and women and boys and girls are completely different from one another and realize they’re raising future adults and stop assuming it’s still 1985 and prepare them for the world as it exists in 2026.
And you have to start asking yourself how you can do it. Maybe spend less time on singing and music in church and stop making church a giant concert. Spend more time rooting out any spiritual sickness and teaching young men the consequences of their actions.
Churches need to spend more time training….and less time entertaining.
But go on pretending that I don’t know what I’m talking about.
And watch these problems continue to metastasize.
