Team Biden is Tricking Americans Into a National Gun Registry

Canada’s recent ban on the sale of handguns is a cakewalk compared to what the Biden administration has in store for American gun owners. He has conceived a new plan to take your guns… one that doesn’t need Congress. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) is responsible for carrying out the scheme. It’s as tyrannical as it is effective.

Last year, the ATF introduced rule 2021R-08 which would reclassify pistols with stabilizing braces as short-barreled rifles. These are illegal. With the stroke of a pen, millions of Americans with this type of firearm would suddenly be breaking the law. Don’t worry, the government has a solution to the problem they just created.

Your saving grace would be to request “amnesty registration” for pistols with stabilizing braces. All you have to do is fill out Form 1 – a document that the ATF says will take you at least 4 hours to complete. You will need to provide your Social Security number, address, phone number, email, payment information, and the make, model, and serial number of your firearm.

But wait, there’s more! You also have to provide the ATF with your fingerprints and photos of your firearms.

Essentially, you are given two options: participate in a national gun registry or be subject to a $250,000 fine and imprisonment.

Don’t worry about how to determine if your firearm will be considered a short-barrel rifle. The ATF has developed a 2-page checklist of 44 items with assigned point values. If your tally is four points or greater, then Uncle Sam is talking about you. Have your checkbook ready, because you’ll have to pay a $200 tax stamp fee.

The Congressional Research Service estimates there are between 10 and 40 million gun owners with stabilizing braces. That means Americas would spend a total of 160,000,000 hours filling out Form 1. Meanwhile, the tax stamp fee would generate $8,000,000,000 in revenue for the federal government.

The backlash against this power grab was swift and harsh. The Second Amendment Foundation sued the ATF. The proposed rule elicited more than 211,000 public comments, causing the Department of Justice to request more time to process them all.

This rule was originally set to take effect in August but has been postponed until December. That’s a nice treat for after the midterms.

It doesn’t end there. After the Uvalde, Texas, shooting, Biden outlined his “Safer America Plan.” This will give the ATF an additional $1.7 billion next year. This 13% increase will provide the helping hand of more than 300 new agents.

Registering guns with the ATF isn’t a new concept. The National Firearms Act dates back to 1934. It required the registration of certain guns. Over the years it expanded. Today an entire NFA division exists that processes applications involving making, exporting, and transporting firearms – including the registration of specific firearms.

What is new is how broad this new rule is. It casts a wide net that will tangle millions of Americans into a gun registry filled with red tape.

Biden may be hiding behind ice cream cones now, but don’t be fooled. He’s coming for your guns. All of them. After the midterms, he’ll put down that cone and rule with an iron fist.
