Leftist Department of Justice Blasted for Not Protecting Children
Members of the Department of Justice (DOJ) — who were recently accused of spending too many of their energies waging war against Republicans — have neglected their responsibilities to fight child exploitation.
That’s because DOJ members have not made it one of their priorities.
This is according to a report that the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) published last week.
Congress, through the PROTECT Our Children Act of 2008, mandated that the DOJ create and implement a national strategy to combat child exploitation. Per Congress, the DOJ must update that strategy every two years and set measurable goals, led by an appointed senior official.

“But in the past 14 years, nine detailees have rotated through the national coordinator position,” according to the GAO.
“DOJ has only issued a strategy twice, hasn’t fully included 12 of 19 elements, and hasn’t updated it since 2016 to address advances in technology, like encryption, that make it harder to catch online predators preying on children.”
Moreover, the DOJ strategy is not up to date on key technology advances that make it more difficult to catch perpetrators, the GAO reported added.
Reports of suspected child sexual exploitation increased 35 percent from 2020 to 2021, according to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Other federal agencies combat child exploitation through task forces, training, and public awareness campaigns.
As RVIVR reported last month, Republican members of the House Judiciary Committee released a report on investigations into the Biden administration’s politicizing and weaponizing of the DOJ.

The report, among other things, said the FBI, under the authority of the DOJ, artificially inflates statistics about domestic violent extremism in the nation. The report also said the FBI abuses its counterterrorism authorities to investigate parents who spoke at school board meetings.
Also last month, the GAO called out the DOJ for not responding to Congressional inquiries in as timely of a manner as they should.
DOJ and FBI members, as of late, seem to have abused their powers to favor Democrats and undermine conservatives nationwide, especially, former President Donald Trump.
