The Anti-Semitic Cowards In Boca Raton’s Shadows

There is a faction of the population that outwardly belies discrimination, but only visual discrimination between whites and people of color. These closet bigots are no better than those that openly discriminate against everyone.

To both of these groups, Jews are easy targets. There isn’t a concrete reason for their disdain, they may not even know anyone that’s Jewish. Still, their inner resentment, even unfounded, needs to vent and Jews are the outlet.

The range of their contempt can vary from seemingly harmless bad jokes at parties, to harassment and in extreme cases open violence. In Boca Raton, Florida, the harassment has begun and it needs to be circumvented before it escalates to violence.

Late Saturday afternoon or early Saturday evening a pickup truck was seen throwing packets into driveways in two neighborhoods. The packets contained anti-Semitic propaganda that stated in large letters:

“Every Single Aspect Of The Jewish Talmud Is Satanic”

The packets also contained some sort of black capsules that the police believe to be nontoxic, although it recommended that handling them should be avoided.

South Florida has a large Jewish Population, but there has still been a noticeable increase in anti-Semitic incidents. The Anti-Defamation League noted a 50 percent rise in these type of occurrences between 2020 – 2021.

Lonnie Wilkes who is the Regional Director of the Anti-Defamation League, had this to say:

“We are unified against hate, we are unified against bigotry, and antisemitism has no place in our community.”

Obviously, Wilkes is correct and yet there are those out there that continue to plant the seeds of hatred.

It was widely reported when Kanye West made moronic statements about Jews on a broad range of subjects, including “Stop dissing the Nazis.” West’s comments were arrogant, uninformed and frankly showed a lack of intelligence.

However, there was a distinct lack of anger about the comments. It was almost as though they were laughed off instead of being met with the same outrage that comments about Black or Hispanic heritage would have aroused.

It isn’t only those in the public eye that can corrupt. In 2019 a principal at a Boca school went on record stating that he couldn’t confirm that the Holocaust actually took place. While West has a larger media audience, this principal is dealing with impressionable minds that can be corrupted by such irrational views.

Any type of discrimination should not be tolerated and in the case bigotry against Jews it should be met with the same loathing as hatred against any other group.
