Here’s the Best Way to Honor Rush Limbaugh

The late great Rush Limbaugh deserves his own museum.

Rush died in February 2021. Now is the time that someone in the private sector with the means to design and construct such a museum gets to it.

In late 2020, Rush learned his lung cancer diagnosis was terminal. Around that time, one man called into Rush’s nationally syndicated radio program and pitched such an idea. Rush gave his blessing.

The reasons why Rush Limbaugh deserves his own museum is obvious. Rush won numerous awards and other accolades. He authored several bestselling books. He successfully raised money for several charities. His bust is on display at the Missouri State Capitol.

Rush inspired an entire generation of young conservatives, currently in their 30s and 40s, who continue his mission to promote conservative principles and love of country.

The Rush Limbaugh Museum could, among other things, showcase mementos from his life, not to mention the Presidential Medal of Freedom bestowed upon him by former President Donald Trump. Visitors could see Rush’s golden EIB microphone. The museum gift shop could sell Excellence in Broadcasting (EIB) apparel, all of Rush’s books, and, quite frankly, the sky’s the limit on Rush-related merchandise.

The best place to build a museum? Why not Rush’s birthplace and hometown of Cape Girardeau, Missouri?

Limbaugh belonged to an influential family in Missouri. His uncle and cousin served as federal judges. His grandfather, Rush Hudson Limbaugh, Sr., an attorney, has a federal courthouse in the city named in his honor.

As for Rush Limbaugh the radio host, Cape Girardeau offers a self-guided driving tour that takes visitors past his boyhood haunts. According to VisitMo.co, Those sites include the hospital where he was born, his childhood home, the barber shop where he shined shoes, and his first radio station.

A Rush Limbaugh Museum would boost Cape Girardeau’s economy and deliver plenty of business to its hotel and restaurant industries.

Fans from around the nation, and perhaps the world, would make it their business to travel to Cape Girardeau to pay respects to the man who had talent on loan on from God (with one hand tied behind his back, just to make it fair).

For out-of-town or out-of-state tourists, the city already offers art galleries, vineyards, spas, golf courses, a casino, a brewery, and a farmers’ market.

According to the U.S. Census, Cape Girardeau has nearly 83,000 residents and a median household income of $59,252.

This plan, if enacted, will work.
