No, You Don’t Need A F-16 To Take On The Government
It is no secret that President Joe Biden is not a fan of people owning guns, especially what he believes are “assault rifles.” In fact, he seems to believe that the Second Amendment is obsolete.
Biden has a weird line that he likes to trot where he says you need fighter jets to take on the U.S. government. He just recently said it again at an event in California.
From the New York Post:
President Biden fired off another shot at gun rights advocates, saying that they would need far more advanced weaponry to take on the government.
“I love these guys who say the Second Amendment is — you know, the tree of liberty is water with the blood of patriots. Well, if [you] want to do that, you want to work against the government, you need an F-16,” Biden mused at a campaign event in California Tuesday.
“You need something else than just an AR-15.”
Biden stressed that he supports Second Amendment rights, but is in favor of policies to curtail gun violence.
“We have to change,” Biden said. “I’m a Second Amendment guy. I taught it for four years, six years in law school. And guess what? It doesn’t say that you can own any weapon you want … you couldn’t own a cannon. You can’t own a machine gun.”
Where do we begin? First of all, you can actually own a cannon in the United States. They’re expensive as hell and it requires a lot of paperwork but you can own a cannon. Americans have always been able to own cannons. In fact, the U.S. Congress would in a time of war commission privately owned warships into service as privateers and they were armed with cannons.
You can also own machine guns. It also requires a lot of paperwork but you can own them too. If this is what Joe Biden taught his law school students, his former students should ask for their tuition money back.
Also, it’s really creepy that Joe Biden so cavalierly muses about using heavy weaponry against his political opponents. Personally, I can’t think of a better reason to be armed than the fact that the president of the United States thinks about using military force against me and his other political opponents.
Biden is also wrong about the fact that you need an F-16 to take on the government. I don’t recall the Taliban having any F-16s when they forced us out of Afghanistan. The Vietcong didn’t have any fighter jets when they forced us out of South Vietnam.
Those F-16s Joe Biden likes to talk about have pilots. Those pilots have families. Those planes have maintenance crews. Those maintenance crews have families. Those pilots won’t always be in the air and those maintenance crews won’t always be on base. Military bases can be infiltrated. F-16s cannot take or hold ground, only infantry can do that. That infantry has to be supported by convoys and other logistics. You can see where I am going.
A second American civil war would be a bloody, drawn-out affair that wouldn’t be settled by F-16s just bombing their fellow Americans no matter what Joe Biden’s senile rantings say.
