When Woke Worlds Collide

Let’s face it. Dealing with the relentless onslaught of horrible, self-destructive ideas from psychotic woke zealots can be exhausting. Seemingly every day, they drop a new head scratching societal cluster bomb designed to reward parasitic members of society at your expense. Sure, there is the sanctimony and self-righteousness they crave, like an addict craves a cheap hit of fentanyl, but make no mistake, they revel in finding ways to make your life more miserable.

Feminists vs. Trans

Woke is vicious and always in attack mode, so it’s fun to watch them squirm when two of their favored factions square off. For the past couple years, we got the popcorn out to watch the trans women’s community face off against radical feminists over the subject of whether trans women are real women. In one corner, we have the J.K. Rowling faction, who believes the trans movement is leading to the extinction of biological women. The controversy started in 2019 when Rowling supported a woman, Maya Forstater, who was fired from her job for expressing her belief that “it’s impossible to change sex.” The vitriol from the trans community continued to rachet up and reached a crescendo when Rowling published this tweet, er, X, in 2020:

Instantly, Rowling was labeled a TERF (trans-exclusionary radical feminist), and the trans community had some success in blocking her participation in several Harry Potter projects. Trans influencers like Delany Tarr were quick to respond:

Rowling has been the victim of harassment, a canceling effort at #RIPJKRowling, a doxing effort, and she endured numerous death threats. The lineup of those who want her permanently canceled is formidable, and includes GLAAD, Felicia Day, Sarah Paulson, Mary Lambert, Anthony Rapp and Jonathan Van Ness. On the other side, an impressive list of feminist sympathizers stepped up to support Rowling, including Martina Navratilova, Robbie Coltrane, Eddie Izzard, Ralph Fiennes, John Cleese, Sir Tom Stoppard, as well as thousands of people who signed an online petition in Rowling’s defense.

While it’s tempting to side with the Harry Potter author, it’s important to remember she was a leading proponent of the woke concept that there are no differences between men and women, and she was all too eager to cancel anyone who disagreed with the feminist mantra. Frankly, the irony of watching her argue vigorously in defense of the differences between biological and trans women is delicious. Still, whatever the outcome, the battle and level of verbal artillery exchanged between the two protected groups is hilarious to watch and quite entertaining.

Gays vs. Muslims

This conflict is shaping up to be particularly divisive for the woke movement. With the possible exception of trans people, no group is more protected and privileged than the gay community. On the other hand, Woke tells us that Muslims are victims of an Islamophobic white society, so they must also be given protected and favored status. That many Muslims have an irrational fear and hatred of gay people is an awkward reality the Woke hierarchy would just as soon sweep under the carpet, but it isn’t going to go away just because they want it to.

So, as is usually the case with woke utopian fantasies, where disparate groups live in bliss and harmony, harsh realities are ignored, which usually leads to a disaster of some sort. In this case, turning a blind eye to the truth surrounding Islamic beliefs regarding homosexuality and refusing to address it has set the Muslim and gay communities on a collision course.

In essence, Islam forbids homosexuality. The belief is that homosexuals defy the natural disposition which Allah created in mankind. Ibn al-Qayyim, a famous Sunni Islamic jurist, commented on the subject:

“Both of them – fornication and homosexuality – involve immorality that goes against the wisdom of Allah’s creation and commandment. For homosexuality involves innumerable evil and harms, and the one to whom it is done would be better off being killed than having this done to him, because after that he will become so evil and so corrupt that there can be no hope of his being reformed, and all good is lost for him, and he will no longer feel any shame before Allah or before His creation.”

Try to imagine the consequence of a Christian leader uttering such words…

This condemnation of the gay lifestyle has begun to manifest itself in overt actions. In 2021, Hamtramck, Michigan, became the first city to elect a Muslim-majority city council. Woke leftists were euphoric, praising the city’s diversity and inclusiveness. They spewed sanctimony and pointed to Hamtramck as an example of how every city should function. However, the celebration was short-lived, since hilariously, in June of this year, the city council unexpectedly banned gay pride flags.

One of the Muslim Councilmen, Mohammed Hassan, expressed his support for the measure by saying, “I’m working for the people, what the majority of the people like.”

Former mayor Karen Majewski responded: “There’s a sense of betrayal. We supported you when you were threatened, and now our rights are threatened, and you’re the one doing the threatening.”

… Heh heh…

While the Muslim vs. gay smack down in Hamtramck has been fun to watch, the concern is that orthodox Muslims might resort to violence as interactions between the two communities intensify. Recently, a gay, professional dancer was stabbed to death at a Brooklyn gas station in a confrontation with a group of Muslim men. The incident serves as another reminder of the fragility of the left’s coalition of disparate victim groups that often have diametrically opposed agendas.

Let’s pray the conflicts between feminists and trans women, as well as Muslims and the gay community, stay within the boundaries of civilized discourse because no one wants to see anyone hurt, regardless of ideology. If the battles do remain confined to a war of words on social media, watching these victim groups slug it out while the broader woke community wrings its hands and gnashes its teeth will be must see TV.

Get your popcorn ready…
