This One Chart Shows How Illegal Immigration Is Out Of Control
Most Americans believe we have chaos on the southern border. Everyday brings thousands more migrants crossing the southern border.
But this chart I found on Twitter/X puts the invasion in perspective.
That’s right, there are more illegal immigrants encountered by the Border Patrol than there were births in the U.S. beginning in August and lasting through October, which is the last month data is available for both.
Just for perspective, there were a little over 300,000 births a month in September and there were even more illegal immigrant encounters than that.
Even more troubling is that these are just the encounters on the border. This does not include those who got away from Border Patrol.
Now let me digress a bit here. We need to get the nation’s birthrate up. We need to implement programs to encourage people to have babies such as increased child tax credits and subsidies and paid family leave for married couples. We also need a culture that celebrates babies and children and sees them as a blessing, not a curse.
But we also need to secure the border. Having more migrants than births is not sustainable for a nation.
The problem is that many Democrats see this as a good thing. They see increased immigration, both illegal and legal, as a way to alter the demographics of the country in a way to benefit them permanently. Of course the problem with this line of thinking is that Republicans are actually doing better with Hispanic and Asian voters than in the past.
The border must be secured both for the sake of national security and to prevent an excessive burden on social services. But as this chart makes clear, we also need to encourage Americans to have more babies.
