Not If, Just Deport Foreign Students Rioting On Campuses
The violence on college campuses over the last week is unconscionable. Mindless leftists, many of whom have no idea what they are even protesting about, have disrupted classes, and are intimidating Jewish students. I wrote a column about this earlier in the week about how these riots need to be put down quickly and with plenty of authority.
Now, the Department of Homeland Security is making noise, but honestly, I doubt they will carry through with what SHOULD be done. They have stated that foreign students who have been suspended could be deported, but will they be? Homeland Security Investigations, a part of DHS, said a suspension could trigger a chain of events leading to deportation, as reported by Fox News.
During the celebration of Passover, Jewish students are being attacked by individuals who have nothing better to do besides causing problems. This affects not only their religious observance but also the education process for every student at the university. Any act of insurrection like this is unacceptable and unnecessary, particularly when some are protesting just for the sake of causing trouble. I have come across videos where students were asked why they were protesting, and they said they didn’t know; they had only heard that students at another college needed support. So, some students are even leaving one college protest to attend another at a different college without even knowing why they are protesting in the first place.
An HSI representative indicated the impact of the suspension on a studentโs progress is the critical issue.
โA temporary suspension, even if that were a final determination for a student, does not necessarily mean that the student would fall below โnormal progressโ in his/her course of study. If a student were to be suspended, DHS would need reason to believe that the student would not be able to make normal progress in his/her course of study, and if it believed a suspension merited that type of decision, it would have to initiate removal proceedings, which would be done on a case-by-case basis in conjunction with U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Office of the Principal Legal Advisor.โ
The representative added that the final decision would be made by an immigration judge and might not result in the foreign student being deported, noting that most visa revocations donโt lead to deportations but a ban on future entry.
All of this legal jargon can be condensed down to the same outcome of everything that the Biden administration does: nothing. This administration has become skilled in the art of doing nothing and protecting its inaction by using talking heads to provide long-winded explanations for its inactivity.
Republican Senator Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee agrees. In a post on X, she put it this way:
โImmediately deport all foreign students studying in the USA that support Hamas. We should also revoke federal student loans for any American student arrested for supporting Hamas.โ
According to The Jerusalem Post, Chabad at Yale University said celebrating Passover is an act of courage. The Jewish group said:
โWe firmly believe that the best and most effective antidote to hate and anti-Semitism on campus is to renew our commitment to Jewish engagement with joy and conviction. Passover reminds us to stand up for freedom and against ideological conformity in all its manifestations. Be brave and courageous, and let us celebrate next year in Jerusalem.โ
The group added that protests have turned violent and that Jewish students are now in danger.
โRegrettably, this disastrous incident should surprise no one. Calls for โone solution, intifada revolutionโ and a โglobal intifada,โ as well as open support for Hamas, have become a regular part of the protests. We call on Yale to immediately take concrete steps to provide a safe environment for Jewish students.โ
The sad truth is that the administrations of these colleges are allowing the inmates to run their asylums. In fact, they couldnโt be happier. They love chaos, they strive to create it, and the current administration does not have the brains or the guts to do the right thing.
Foreign students need to be expelled, not suspended and deported immediately with no reentry provision. Any American students need to be expelled with any scholarships and student loans revoked. That will send a clear message, that terrorizing fellow Americans on a college campus for nothing more than their beliefs will not be tolerated.
With this woke administration that loves disruption, it won’t happen, but that doesnโt change the fact that it should.
