The Ukraine Version of the Cuban Missile Crisis

Itโ€™s like hoping you can run out the clock in football.

The proxy war quagmire in Ukraine just gets worse by the day as the Westโ€™s bumbling โ€œleadersโ€ continue to unwittingly push us ever closer to nuclear Armageddon. The big question is whether we can avoid WW3 until Trump takes office in January 2025.

Apparently, it has finally dawned on these buffoons that unless something dramatic changes, Ukraine is going to lose the war, something they should have recognized before foolishly committing to a conflict with a military superpower. In fact, Russian troops have made significant gains as a new offensive moves toward Kharkiv, Ukraineโ€™s second largest city.

What Caused the Ukraine War

If youโ€™ll recall, the reason Russia invaded Ukraine was its fear, real or imagined, that NATOโ€™s expansion was a precursor to isolating and destroying Russia, either militarily, economically or both. Russian President Vladimir Putin envisioned NATO offensive weapons within a few miles of Russian soil, and he was determined to not let that happen.

After years of trying to coexist with the West, which included overtures to join NATO, Putin finally reached his breaking point when Obamaโ€™s CIA instigated a coup against Ukraineโ€™s legitimately elected President Viktor Yanukovych in 2014. From that moment until the invasion, the U.S. poured at least $3 billion in advanced weaponry into Ukraine, including Javelin anti-tank missiles.

You know how it unfolded from there.

Dangerous Escalation

Ignoring cold, harsh reality, Western military leaders were either not aware or overlooked the simple fact that Ukraine is one third the size of Russia, and therefore, requires a three to one kill ratio to stay competitive. Ukraineโ€™s attrition rate is so high that the average age of a soldier has climbed from 30 to 43 since the start of the war. Just now, it seems, NATO is beginning to understand that without advanced weaponry, a license for Ukraine to attack the Russian motherland, and NATO boots on the ground, the war is unwinnable.

Thus, we have the most recent developments:

* Ukraine is scheduled to receive 30 F-16s from Belgium, with Denmark, Norway and the Netherlands all pledging to contribute additional fighter jets. Ukraineโ€™s military leadership says it needs 150 F-16s to defend the countryโ€™s airspace.

* Ukraine is lobbying for the green light to attack Russia directly. In a recent development, Cezary Tomczyk, Polandโ€™s deputy defense Minister, said Warsaw โ€œdoes not apply any restrictions when it comes to the use of Polish weapons by Ukrainians.โ€

Additionally, Franceโ€™s President Emmanuel Macron recently said, โ€œWe think we must allow (Ukraine) to neutralize the (Russian) military sites from which the missiles are fired.”

In response, Putin said that if Ukraine used long-range weapons provided by NATO to strike Russia, it could trigger โ€œa global conflict.โ€

* Some NATO allies are considering sending troops to train Ukrainian soldiers. Specifically, Franceโ€™s Macron claimed that deployment of Western troops might become necessary in the future based on his assertion that โ€œRussia poses a direct and immediate threat to France on all fronts.โ€

Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas and Lithuanian Defense Minister Arvydas Anuลกauskas also did not reject the possibility of sending troops for training missions.

The West Finally Realizes its Terrible Predicament

NATO is feeling the noose around its neck tightening by the day. The pipe dream that dumping a bunch of money into Ukraineโ€™s corrupt sink hole would result in a victory over Russia was ill conceived and poorly executed.

The reality is becoming clear. To โ€œdefeatโ€ Russia, NATO will have to commit advanced offensive weapons to Ukraine, put boots on the ground to prop up the flagging Ukraine army, and allow Ukraine to launch attacks on the Russian homeland.

Putin, who is not known to bluff, responded with a warning to the West that they were playing with fire.

Constant escalation can lead to serious consequences,โ€ he said. โ€œIf these serious consequences occur in Europe, how will the United States behave, bearing in mind our parity in the field of strategic weapons? It’s hard to say – do they want a global conflict?

If Ukraine begins striking Moscow with long-range missiles, would Putin launch a tactical nuke at Kyiv?

Bet the farm on it.

And if that happens, what would follow? Would a nuclear armed NATO member get a wild hair and launch at Moscow? Would the U.S. tuck its tail between its legs and fail to respond, formally handing over the mantle of world leadership to China? Would a full-scale nuclear exchange follow?

Look, no one is claiming Vladimir Putin is a saint. In fact, he is a brutal thug dictator. However, like an abusive owner who turns a gentle puppy into a vicious attack dog by beating him repeatedly, the West can take a lot of credit for shaping Putin into this current version. Take a moment and study Putin in the early 2000s. He was open to reforms, democracy and cooperation with the West.

He rode horses with George Bush, for Godโ€™s sake.

Now, the dog feels backed into a corner and is ready to bite, and if leftist and RINO neocons are allowed to continue down this bumbling path, we could find ourselves in a new Cuban missile crisis moment. The situation is compounded because Biden has sunk $200 billion into the Ukraine money pit, and he canโ€™t let Zelensky lose the war until after the election.

Buckle up. The next five months will be as exciting as a ride on Japanโ€™s famed Steel Dragon.
