Why Do They Want Biden Out? Not Because Of His Dementia.

People should be suspicious when opinions change while facts remain the same.

While sometimes individuals develop their views over time, usually when a person changes their perspective significantly without any change in reality, there is something more going on.

The first presidential debate of the 2024 presidential general election was a complete disaster for Joe Biden on multiple levels. The questions over the president’s competency were already building and Biden’s poll numbers were weak going into the critical event last week. The current administration has been very careful to not let Biden go off script or even do interviews that are not heavily controlled, so this was the first real time the public saw him speak for more than a couple minutes in a long time.

CNN even predictably tried the network’s best to protect Biden. The station didn’t show that the President needed the assistance of two people to just get off the stage after the debate on live TV, and the left-wing network also cut to ads and interrupted several times when Biden was in trouble. The effort to protect the failed current President was still a failure.

What happened next was almost just as interesting though.

Within seconds of the debate ending, nearly the entire national media establishment seemed to uniformly call for Biden to step down. John King at CNN, Mika Brzezenski at MSNBC, and even some Democratic Senators, such as Bob Casey, who is running for re-election in Pennsylvania this year, all suddenly suggested or implied that the current President should consider stepping down. The New York Times editorial board also called for Biden to end his campaign. Many in the media on the left were quick and vocal in their calls for the current President to give up on his reelection effort.

The most interesting aspect of these calls for Biden to step down is that any objective observer has seen that the current President has been failing cognitively and physically for years. Indeed, no one who has followed American politics closely was very surprised by Biden’s pathetic debate. The failed current President has confused countries, claimed to speak to world leaders who died years ago, and even forgotten what year his son died and when he was Vice President, just in the last year. Biden has also repeatedly fallen going up the stairs to Air Force One and even while speaking at events.

The question is why when any remotely neutral person could see the current President was not fit for office years ago, these individuals would wait until now to speak up. The answer is that the Democrat pundit class now doesn’t think Biden can win. His cognitive abilities aren’t even the primary reason.

After all, Biden was clearly in cognitive decline when he ran in 2020. Even Democrat Julian Castro questioned Biden’s memory during the 2020 primary, and the current President performed badly during the debates that occurred in that election cycle as well. Democratic voters in Iowa and New Hampshire rejected Biden in 2020 before the Democratic establishment led by Barack Obama and James Clyburn stepped in to save his pathetic candidacy in South Carolina and on Super Tuesday. Biden was also largely able to hide in his basement during the 2020 election because of the Pandemic, and the corrupt media establishment protected him as well.

The real reason Democrats are now calling for Biden to drop out is not primarily because of his failing mental health, which has been in steady and significant decline for over four long years.

It’s that they don’t think they can win anymore.

Biden has failed. The incompetent current President has left the border open, overseen the worst military withdrawal in US history in Afghanistan, and created the worst inflation the US economy has seen in our history. And the polls show the degradation of his political brand.

Biden would be a weak candidate even if he wasn’t failing cognitively and physically, but his deteriorating mental state is being used as an excuse by the left to try to remove him, when in reality these individuals would have no problem backing Biden despite his obvious dementia if he was leading in the polls. That’s exactly what they did in the 2020 Democratic Primary, and the 2020 general election.

What Thursday’s debate showed was the futility of Biden making a “comeback” and showing the American people that he still has a political upside. In a face-to-face matchup with Donald Trump he was clearly more feeble, more confused and less vital than his opponent. They can’t sell Joe Biden anymore.

For certain, Biden would be a very weak incumbent even if he were mentally competent. His performance on issues like the economy, the border, the wasteful and deteriorating war in Ukraine, and lots of other hot-button topics has been disqualifying, and that more than his questionable cognition is what is drowning his hopes for re-election.

But despite the panic among the pundits of the Left, this isn’t over. Not yet. In fact, things are perhaps even more dangerous now than they were before Thursday’s debacle.

Many on the left have shown repeatedly that they will do anything to get and stay in power, after all.

From the fake Russia hoax to the sham current indictments and the pathetic impeachment attempts, many Democrats have shown they will sink to any low to keep Trump from power. Now that the whole country knows they’re running someone who ought to be in a nursing home for re-election as president, we’re in completely uncharted territory.

If it feels like there aren’t any guardrails to American politics right now, that’s because there aren’t.
