“Smart LA 2028” Sounds Like A Classic Oxymoron
Let’s not pretend that Los Angeles as a city or California as a state have any idea what they’re doing. So, when I hear phrases like “Smart LA 2028” or “Reimagining LA 2.0,” I picture a disaster just waiting to happen, especially with the recent devastation and a relatively short period of time to rebuild. Mix in the inevitable green energy lean and overall leftist stupidity, and this has catastrophe written all over it.
If no significant events were planned over the next few years, I still think the task is too daunting, but the city is hosting the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the 2028 Olympics. Gavin Newsome, who has never failed to embrace a liberal concept, no matter how ridiculous or whacked out it is, decided to promote the idea on national TV on Sunday.
Jacob Soboroff, an NBC News Correspondent, met with Newsom to discuss the plan for the new city. At times during the interview, Newsom displayed cluelessness on certain subjects. During one sequence, he showed he had no idea why the reservoirs in the Pacific Palisades were left completely dry.
The Santa Ynez Reservoir has a capacity of 117 million gallons and, as The Gateway Pundit reported, could have played a critical role in stopping the fires.
At one point, Newsom criticizes Trump’s response to the situation and urges him to visit California to witness the devastation firsthand.
“I don’t think that misinformation and disinformation advantages or aids any of us. Responding to Donald Trump’s insults, we would spend another month. I’m very familiar with them. Every elected official that he disagrees with is very familiar with them.”
The Democrat governor also outlined his plans for rebuilding and preparing for future events, including the 2026 FIFA World Cup and 2028 Olympics.
Jacob Soboroff:
“Over the course of the next several years, Los Angeles will host the World Cup, the Super Bowl, and then the Olympics. With this rebuilding effort needing to take place, is LA going to be ready for all of those global events?”
Gavin Newsom:
“My humble position—and it’s not just being naively optimistic—is that this only reinforces the imperative to move quickly, doing so in the spirit of collaboration and cooperation. President of the United States, Donald Trump, to his credit, was helpful in bringing the Olympics to the United States, specifically to LA. We thank him for that. This is an opportunity for him to shine, for this country to shine, for California and this community to shine.
The opportunity with all of that—and the pride and spirit that come from hosting these three iconic events—is also the chance to rebuild at the same time. That’s why we’re already organizing a Marshall Plan. We already have a team working on “Reimagining LA 2.0,” ensuring everyone is included—not just the folks on the coast but also those here who were ravaged by this disaster.”
Jacob Soboroff:
“You just said you’re organizing a Marshall Plan for the rebuilding of California. What is that Marshall Plan? Tell us about it.”
Gavin Newsom:
“We’re just starting to lay it out. While we’re still fighting these fires, we’re already talking to city leaders, civic leaders, business leaders, nonprofits, and labor leaders. We’re beginning to organize how we can bring together individuals in philanthropy for recovery, how we can organize the region, and how we can seek federal assistance—not only for the Olympics but also for recovery efforts.
We’re working to galvanize the community, engaging those who love this region, to develop a mindset that addresses this tragedy at scale. That means responding efficiently, as with the executive order I mentioned, by focusing on time-sensitive project delivery, addressing building codes, resolving permitting issues, and moving forward with resilience in mind.”
This plan aligns with the city’s “SmartLA 2028” strategy, which aims to leverage technology to address urban challenges and improve residents’ quality of life.
The Gateway Pundit reported that recent wildfires in California have sparked conspiracy theories, suggesting they were intentionally set to further the United Nations’ Agenda 2030 and the development of smart cities.
The United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development outlines goals to create cities that are “inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable.” This concept encompasses “smart cities,” which leverage technology to enhance urban operations and improve residents’ quality of life.
The “SmartLA 2028” strategy, outlined in a document published by the City of Los Angeles, envisions a highly digital and connected city by 2028 under the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda.
With Gavin Newsom involved and everyone trying to weave every liberal concept and green energy notion into this rebuild, I can’t see this idea being successful. This will turn out to be another pie-in-the-sky leftist failure that the taxpayers will have to pay for and then live with.
