How Donald Trump Forced The Democratic Party’s Leaders to Take their Masks off

Politics was boring in the United States for a long time. The difference between the Democrats and Republicans for most of the time from 1990 to 2010 was fairly marginal. Both parties supported constant wars and fairly liberal social policies on issues such as education and the border. The only leaders in Congress and prominent media members who spoke out on the border, such as Lou Dobbs and Pat Buchanan, were generally seen as irrelevant voices focused on issues that weren’t seen by Washington as being important. While there were divisions between Democrats and Republicans on some important issues during that time, both parties agreed on many issues in the 1990s and 2000s.

A lot has changed today. Since Trump ran successfully in 2015 and Obama took the Democratic Party further to the left, the gridlock in Washington has reached historic levels. The parties rarely agree anymore, even on many foreign policy issues where bipartisan consensus was often easy to reach in the past. President Trump and the MAGA movement have staked out clear and conservative positions on issues across the board, including what the left refers to as climate change, education policy, the border, and also on foreign policy. Trump has broken with the failing Washington DC establishment on many issues, including these individuals’ push of failed foreign policy efforts such as regime change initiatives. The current President has taken on the Washington elite of both parties by staking out his own positions on issues across the board.

Most Democratic party leaders always supported liberal policies that the public opposed, that’s why candidates such as Mondale and Dukakis represented the party. While Clinton was able to mask the left’s opposition to the views of most Americans by repositioning the party in the middle, the Democratic party is once again a far-left bastion of radical and unpopular ideas. The left’s opposition to Trump’s efforts to secure the border, reign in government waste, and stop supporting endless wars that aren’t in the US’s interest such as in Ukraine, have forced leaders of the Democratic party to show who these extremists really are. Trump’s efforts to make the US more socially conservative have also forced the left-wing leaders to show out of touch these individuals are with the American public as well.

The Democratic party’s opposition to Trump’s efforts to ban men from competing with women in sports is a good example of how the mask has been taken off the out-of-touch left. Almost 70 percent of Americans oppose biological men being able to compete with biological women, yet many key Democrats, such as Gavin Newsom, have refused to abide by the President’s recent executive order that he passed to protect women and girls’ sports. Many Democrats have gone from fighting for Title 9, to trying to destroy the act. The Democrat leader’s determination to feminize men, using terms such as toxic masculinity, has also backfired, with Trump doing very well across nearly every demographic with males, including with younger men who have traditionally voted Democrat.

Today’s Democratic party stands for almost nothing most Americans care about. Biden’s signature piece of legislation, the so-called Inflation Reduction Act, prioritized climate change over jobs and the economy. Trump is fighting to bring back manufacturing jobs, restore fairness in trade policy, and secure the border, left-wing leaders are focused on fighting against deportations and trying to send more billions to Ukraine. While leaders on the left were able to hide their differences with the American people for years when the Republican party was run by RINOs, these individuals can’t hide anymore, the MAGA movement has taken the mask the out-of-touch and arrogant leaders have today’s failing Democratic party.
