“60 Minutes’” Collapse Is A Microcosm Of Mainstream Media Failure

The left likes narratives, not facts. The Democratic party enjoys using meaningless and false talking points including the incorrect premise that women make less than men per hour, Trump was a Russian agent, or even more recently that Elon Musk is secretly running the government. When the left could control the narrative because of the monopoly these radicals had online and with social media before Musk bought what at the time was referred to as Twitter, the Democrats were often able to get away with gaslighting and lying. That day is over now.

Today, public confidence in the traditional and failing legacy media is at all-time lows. The country sees the liberal press for what this institution is, a media network that promotes left-wing propaganda nearly 24 hours a day. Many people get news from podcasts, the internet, and more objective social media sites such as X. Very few conservatives even watch the failing legacy press anymore, and many independents also rely more on newer forms of media as well. The left hasn’t just seen these individuals’ influence in America plummet, these out-of-touch radicals have also lost control of the narrative.

This is why the recent unfolding saga at CBS with 60 minutes was fairly predictable as well. The top producer at a once very respected show recently stepped down because the parent company of the network no longer wants the show to be used to promote left-wing propaganda for a number of reasons, including Trump’s pending lawsuit over the deceitful editing of a Harris interview. The reality is also that the network knows that if the so-called journalists are just going to promote lies and false stories to undermine Trump instead of acting as a real news network, the Trump administration is obviously less likely to approve the pending merger between CBS’s parent company, Paramount Global, and Skydance Media.

The legacy media has exposed left-wing radicals who are pretending to be journalists such as Scott Pelley, a long-time personality of the once venerated 60-minute show. Pelley’s speech about the longtime editor of 60 Minutes Bill Owens leaving, was both absurd and delusional. The left-wing hack who claims to be a journalist claimed that the Owens had essentially lost editorial control of the programming, although Pelley himself even admitted that no actual stories had been vetoed.

When Trump became President CBS and 60 Minutes stopped covering or reporting the news, the network and this show simply promoted left-wing propaganda and became a mouthpiece for the opposition to Trump. The 60-minute show never reported anything positive about Trump or his supporters, and the network went out of the way to promote the usual lies about the President’s nonexistent ties to Russia as well. What actually happened was that Pelley and other so-called journalists stopped reporting the news or even trying to tell the truth, these left-wing radicals destroyed the credibility of themselves and the shows and networks they worked for by putting politics above their obligation to tell the American people the facts. This is not just the story of CBS and 60 Minutes, this is the tale of the failing and pathetic legacy media since Trump entered the political scene in 2015.

Despite the absurd narrative that Trump is cracking down on the media, the reality is that the left still has enormous power in the press with control of most of the major networks and online sites such as Google and Facebook. What is really happening at 60 minutes is that the show is being forced to go back to actually reporting the news instead of pushing constant lies and left-wing propaganda to pursue the agenda of a couple of people. Trump and his administration have no reason to grant broadcasting licenses and approve mergers for companies that do nothing but lie and gaslight the public. While the absurd narrative that Pelley and others are trying to push is that the left is that Trump is cracking down on a free press, the reality is that Trump’s actions are actually going to help save the media and restore public trust in this failing and disgraced institution.
