The Democrats Quickly Move on From Trump’s Decision to Disband the Failed Department of Education
The left likes narratives more than facts. One of the biggest problems Democrats are having in the new media age is that these individuals can no longer control the storyline. While the left was able to lie and gaslight about stories in the past, the press is much more decentralized now. Even though a couple of Democrats have been willing to meet and work the the President, the Democratic Party still remains committed to opposing nearly everything Trump says and does.
This is why the left’s only muted criticism of the President’s recent announcement that he would be closing the Department of Education was interesting. While Senator Elizabeth Warren and others held generic protests with no clear message, the Democratic party was more concerned about the closing of the corrupt and incompetent US AID department. Trump announced the close of this Department just 2 weeks ago, and Democrats have quickly moved on from even mentioning this bold move by the President.
The reality is that the Department of Education was a complete failure, and that’s why the Democrats and the left are not trying to defend an institution that failed in every possible way and at nearly each level as well. Reading and literacy levels at the K-12 level are at embarrassingly low levels, and the unnecessary closing of schools during the pandemic even after the vaccine was widely available by this Department as a favor to the Teachers union was a disgrace. Part of the reason the crime rate has increased significantly in urban areas and literacy rates have fallen to historically low levels is because of the complete and total failure of remote learning. The Department of Education under Biden was basically just a conduit for the Teachers Union to get what they wanted, the leadership of this group was almost completely beholden to the left.
The attempt to federalize the education system was a clear failure. No Child Left Behind was unsuccessful, and the public school system in urban areas nearly completely collapsed during the pandemic. The Department of Education refused to even advocate that kids return to school when the US had the data that keeping schools open was safe since private schools and schools in other countries had successfully remained open for some time even during the pandemic. Remote learning also crushed poor families in particular, since those in this socioeconomic group often lacked the resources to send their kids to private schools or bring in tutors. Many lower-income families also relied heavily on the public school system to look after their kids while they were at work, because of how expensive day care is.
The real purpose of the Department of Education was to control the curriculum in schools so the left could push their social agenda, this institution was never set up to truly help or improve the education of American kids. The student loan crisis is yet another failure of the Department of Education as well.When Trump recently announced that states would be more in control of the education system and he disbanded this Department, the left was not able to put a single coherent or compelling argument together to show what this failed institution has done or is doing to improve the education of children in the US. The Democratic party is an entity that represents no one and no core belief system, the left continues to try to lecture Americans rather than listen to them.
