The Important Ceasefire Between India and Pakistan: Another Sign Trump’s Philosophy Works
Sometimes simple can be effective. When Trump descended down the escalator in 2015 to announce his run for the Presidency, the real estate mogul laid out several clear principles for what would be the foundation for his administration. Trump talked about securing the border, cutting taxes to bring manufacturing jobs back, rebuilding the middle class, and ending the needless foreign wars. The 47th President also stated that the core principle of what has been a very successful foreign policy is the idea of peace through strength.
The most successful US Presidents, both Republican and Democrat, have projected power and confidence on the world stage. FDR always spoke strongly and proudly about America, Reagan gave powerful speeches about the light on the hill and the greatness of the United States, and Trump has also constantly underscored what a special country the US is. When Obama first became President, he went on an apology tour worldwide, talking about the mistakes the US has made in the past. He also refused to visit Israel even while traveling to the Middle East. Biden similarly made the US look weak but constantly apologizing to Trump, opening the border, and incompetently withdrawing from Afghanistan. America’s foreign adversaries respect strength, and these enemies will always seek to advantage of weakness.
There is a reason why Russia invaded Ukraine twice in the last decade when Obama and Biden were President. Putin never feared these failed Presidents the way he respects Trump. Despite the unsurprisingly false narrative in the media, the President was very tough on the Russian leader. Trump ended the Nord 2 pipeline, sanctioned Russia, and also armed Ukraine, overriding previous actions by the Obama administration to send Russia’s neighbor nothing but blankets. The strength the 47th President projected helped him negotiate trade agreements such as USMCA, peace agreements such as the Abraham Accords, and bilateral agreements with countries such as Mexico that helped secure the border as well. The world both fears and respects Trump, and the international community saw both Obama and Biden as weak and incompetent.
This is why no one should be surprised that the Trump administration was able yet again to negotiate a critically important ceasefire between 2 major nations on the brink of a wider conflict, India and Pakistan.
These 2 countries have fought two major wars since the end of World War Two, and tensions between these nuclear powers increased significantly when there was a massacre in the disputed territory of Kashmir. India recently bombed several targets in Pakistan in the past week. With a wider war likely to occur, the US, as usual, was the only country in a strong position to resolve the conflict. Trump delivered again. The US sends significant aid to Pakistan and Trump has also had a very close relationship with the Indian prime minister Narendra Modi, the United States was in a unique position to pull the world back from what looked likely to be a larger conflict just a week ago.
President Trump has the unique ability to separate politics from personal emotions, and he has been able to forge relationships with leaders such as President Xi of China and Putin, despite being very tough on both. Trump’s relationship with Modi was likely a key reason why his administration was once again able to prevent a much larger conflict from occurring. The world is a dangerous place, and America’s enemies will never respect weakness, leaders who project strength and use the power of the office of the presidency will always be likely to get more results. Trump’s peace through strength philosophy has been successful for nearly 5 years now, and the recent ceasefire between India and Pakistan was just another example of the President’s core principles producing results not just for the American people, but for the international community as well.
