Trump’s Executive Order to stop Federal Funding of PBS and NPR is a Critical First Step
The country came dangerously close to becoming an oligarchy in 2024. Despite the usual gaslighting by left-wing politicals and partisan hacks in the corrupt legacy media, the Democrats were the party that was the threat to democracy in the last Presidential election. Many on the left gave up on democracy after 2016, and the Democrats supported prosecuting and impeaching Trump and his supporters. The left weaponized the Justice Department in ways not seen in our nation’s history, and the President had to overcome all odds to win in 2024.
One of the main reasons the left tried to discredit the MAGA movement was by promoting blatant lies and also through ignoring important stories such as the Hunter laptop news. The left had control of the narrative before Musk purchased Twitter, and Democrats were essentially trying to turn much of the free press into state media to defeat Trump and his movement. This is why the President’s recent executive order to stop Federal funding to known left-wing propaganda outlets PBS and NPR, is a critical first step to restoring fairness and balance to the media. Big tech companies will only become more powerful moving forward, and most of these corporations lean heavily to the left, having a free press will likely become more of a challenge moving forward as a small number of entities have even more power.
NPR and PBS are both heavily biased against Trump and his MAGA movement. A whistleblower at NPR named Uri Berliner, an award-winning journalist, recently detailed corruption at the media outlet. Berliner talked about how NPR had basically just become an anti-Trump media outlet. The fact that taxpayer money was funding this biased left-wing media is disgusting. The Biden administration supported censorship, weaponized the Justice system against Trump and his supporters, and even kept dossiers on people the corrupt former President thought were spreading what the left refers to as disinformation. Democratic leaders were dangerously close to turning the free press into state media, and using government funding to influence media outlets such as NPR and PBS was a part of this effort.
When Elon Musk bought Twitter he broke the left’s monopoly and took away the ability of these radicals to control the narrative. The absurd lies that were constantly put out against Trump were only possible because the left had near complete control of social media companies prior to Musk’s buyout of the social media company. When governments give significant funding to any media outlet, the state can influence and even in some cases control the content, which is not healthy. Many of the media outlets such as the Atlantic that were getting money from USAID constantly put out stories attacking Trump and his movement, this is appalling.
There is no dictatorship that has ever allowed a free press, and the Democrats’ attempts to control the media in the US and even abroad with federal funding shows how close the government in the US came to no longer being a democracy if Harris had won in 2024.
Trump’s recent executive order is an important action, but his initiative is still just a first step to safeguarding both our country’s free press as well as the Democratic traditions many left-wing leaders were willing to destroy to keep the current President out of power. The public has access to many forms of information now with television and the internet, there is no reason for the government to be funding the media, and this kind of financing creates an increased likelihood of corruption, as was seen during the disgusting Biden administration.
Trump’s executive order is a critical step towards safeguarding the kind of free press that is essential to a strong and vibrant democracy.
