Lack Of Media Integrity That Birthed Cancel Culture, Pretends It Can’t Understand “Consequence Culture”
Thank God for conservative platforms like these. Television and cable talking heads replaced real journalism years ago. Tune into any leftist program, CNN, MSNBC, The View, or Late Night TV (Less Kimmel and soon Colbert), and you will not see the news. What you will see is an arrogant narcissist trying to further their career by being as outrageous as possible. The more hateful and flamboyant the claims, the better.
Liberal news shows do not provide the news; they provide lies and hatred intertwined with their own demented opinions. While perpetrating this fraud on the American public, they are also suppressing views that disagree with theirs. This has become known as “cancel culture,” and the left loves it. Think about all of the conservative speakers who have not been allowed to speak on University campuses. Ben Shapiro, Riley Gaines, Judge Kyle Duncan, Ian Haworth, and a host of others have been turned away. It’s not only conservative speakers; many entertainers have been turned away simply because of their beliefs that had nothing to do with their professional entertainment careers.
Their hatred has reached a tipping point with Charlie Kirk’s murder. I mention this point because no one knows the ultimate destination of their hatred and depravity.
The left’s scale of justice regarding the First Amendment and free speech is reprehensibly flawed. Blocking someone from speaking because their views don’t align with yours is not honoring free speech. For example, it’s convenient for Democrats and liberals to use the excuse that blocking someone who opposes the LGBTQ movement being taught in schools is a demonstration of positivity and acceptance done in support of those in the LGBTQ community.
That is not honoring free speech; it is silencing those who oppose it.
Sabrina Conza, a campus rights advocacy program officer at Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (FIRE), notes that many students misunderstand the concept of free speech. Some believe that their First Amendment rights include the freedom to shout over others. This misunderstanding was evident during the protest at UAlbany, where students chanted, “This is what free speech looks like.”
“If two groups of speakers were protesting on a sidewalk and one group was expressing one opinion and another group was expressing another, and they were screaming and shouting, that’s one thing. But when a speaker goes through a process to be given a forum, and then someone comes in and disrupts it, that is not free speech. I think that would be easy to understand for someone if they went to a play … and a bunch of people came in and started screaming or blowing bullhorns. I don’t think that they would sit there and think, ‘Oh, that’s completely fine.”
The left feels no guilt in shutting anyone and everyone down. When they’re doing it, they don’t call it fascism. They save that term to use against conservatives. The irony here is that the left institutes “cancel culture” on a regular basis. They are the actual fascists. However, God forbid if conservatives expose their fascism. They then immediately try to project it onto the right.
I’d love to start hearing an underused term to contradict the fascism of the left. That term is “Consequence Culture.”
The left “wants their cake and to eat it too.” They feel they have the right to commit any wrong they can, and when someone calls them out on it, they believe the person who exposed them was wrong and did them a disservice.
This is the equivalent of seeing a murder and having a video to back you up. However, after reporting it, the murderer lies, and against all odds, they let him go and denigrate you for reporting it.
Since Charlie Kirk’s murder, far too many on the left have run the whole gamut of bad behavior, from some idiots dancing on his grave to others just straight out berating his life, while others walked around with the radical left’s version of righteous indignation.
All of which were inappropriate and had consequences. Teachers, nurses, university professors, and even late-night hosts who decided to openly display their hatred to influence students or to deceive the public have lost their jobs.
This has not endangered the First Amendment. These are consequences that the left needs to get used to. You can not show videos of a violent shooting to students while cursing his name. You can not use the platform of a late-night television audience to outright lie about every facet of this tragedy to the American public.
Conservatives need to continue to expose the left for their ignorance. It’s time to reintroduce the left to the fact that there are consequences for morally reprehensible behavior.
Conservatives have lived through years of Democrats dictating what is socially acceptable, while we all knew none of it was.
Conservatives don’t need to “cancel” the left; they’ll eventually do that to themselves. In the meantime, let the “Consequence Culture” begin.
