More Dead-End Investigations into Leftist Lawfare
I’m not sure if you noticed, but former FBI Director James Comey and New York Attorney General Letitia James just got off scot-free.
U.S. District Judge Cameron Currie dismissed the cases against Comey and James because Lindsey Halligan, the interim U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, who secured their indictments, was unlawfully appointed to the role, according to the judge’s ruling.
Without diving too deep into the weeds on procedural matters, the cases were ostensibly dismissed because Halligan is part of the 150 appointment logjam that Democrats manufactured in order to impede the Trump agenda. The judge ruled that since Halligan was working under an expired 120-day interim appointment originally given to Erik Siebert, Halligan’s predecessor, she wasn’t authorized to litigate the case.
DOJ officials called the confusion a “paperwork error.”
Why Attorney General Pam Bondi wasn’t aware of this issue, and why Halligan was the only attorney listed on the indictments remains a mystery. FBI Director Kash Patel claims the Comey and James cases are far from over and that we should “stay tuned for right after Thanksgiving, and you’ll see multiple responses, in my opinion.”
I’m not holding my breath.
While the DOJ promised a swift appeal, the reality is Comey was indicted only five days before the statute of limitations expired. It is unlikely he will ever be held accountable for any of his actions during the silent coup.
Crickets on Tulsi Gabbard’s Referral
In July 2025, the Department of Justice announced the creation of a special strike force to investigate alleged illegal activities by intelligence officials tied to the origins of the fake Trump–Russia collusion matter. This unit was formed after the Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, declassified documents suggesting a significant manipulation of intelligence during the Obama administration.
Gabbard discovered a trove of documents that implicated former President Barack Obama and senior members of his administration in a scandal Gabbard described as the “manufacturing” of the intelligence community’s assessment on Russian interference in the 2016 election. Specifically, on multiple occasions, Gabbard alleges intelligence assessments were manipulated under pressure from senior officials to fit the narrative that Russia was interfering in elections in collusion with Trump. This ultimately led to the appointment of Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller, who, of course, ultimately found nothing.
Gabbard’s documents reveal an alleged intricate conspiracy, where the Obama agencies’ assessments were deliberately corrupted by then-CIA Director John Brennan, FBI Director James Comey and Director of National Intelligence James Clapper. They were all intimately involved with the drafting of the fake assessments, and they rushed them to completion in an atypical manner because of purely political motives.
So, what has happened since Gabbert’s referral to the DOJ over four months ago? Instead of immediately appointing a special prosecutor, Bondi insisted on keeping the investigation in-house. This served two purposes. First, the case would receive far less attention than it otherwise would if a special prosecutor were in charge, and second, the DOJ could control the narrative, pace and timing of the probe.
Four months later, reports indicate that the strike force is bogged down in the evidence-gathering and witness-interview stage. So far, there hasn’t been a single indictment, and most Americans aren’t even aware of the biggest political scandal since Teapot Dome. Instead of daily reports and pressure on Bondi to produce results, the media fixation is on Epstein. Certainly, DOJ could keep the heat on by providing regular updates on the investigation to keep it an above the fold story, but there hasn’t been a press release about the investigation in months.
I predict there will never be a single indictment of the major players in the silent coup conspiracy, and the strike force will simply fade away. There probably won’t even be any mid-level indictments either. James Comey, John Brennan and James Clapper may never see the inside of a courtroom, let alone a prison cell. Sally Yates, Andrew McCabe and others will never be held to account for their crimes.
While eight of President Trump’s associates did time for process crimes, it’s probable that no one is going to pay for conducting a silent coup against a sitting president.
It’s time to start asking why? Why is it that every time a leftist is caught red-handed, there’s an excuse given for why they can’t be prosecuted? The statute of limitations ran out; there isn’t enough evidence; the transgression didn’t rise to the level of statute violation; blah, blah, blah.
Personally, I’m sick of the excuses. There is no aspect of the Trump presidency I find more frustrating.
