Canadian Pastor Arrested For Refusing To Apologize for Peaceful Demonstration Against Library Drag Show For Kids
Canada is slowly sinking into the horizon, but unlike a sunset, there is nothing beautiful about it. Seemingly determined to pattern itself after the already lost UK, the freedom of religion for Christians is being ruthlessly taken away.
The radical left loves to call conservatives Nazis, and hardly a day goes by that a comparison to Hitler doesn’t leak out of their foul mouths, but it is always the left that uses Gestapo-type methods when enforcing their unjust ill will.
Derek Reimer is a pastor who, back in 2023, complained to a librarian about her hosting a “drag queen story hour” for children. Reimer asked Shannon Slater, the library manager at Calgary’s Saddletown Library, why the library was hosting such an event. When Slater did not respond, she told Reimer to leave, and he complied.
Reimer had shared his interaction with Slater on social media. As a result, he was ordered to write an apology letter and was sentenced to one year of house arrest and two years of probation.
The letter was due at the end of last week. However, Reimer told local media that he would not submit the letter, stating that to be “sorry,” one must “admit fault” and acknowledge that “you’re wrong.”
Wait a minute. A pastor speaks up against the indoctrination of children by a group of perverts targeting children in a public building, and he is punished with a year of house arrest and two years of probation?
That sentence is totally ridiculous, but even more disturbing is that government lawyers had been seeking to sentence Reimer to prison for his protest against these LGBT lunatics.
On January 16th of this year, the lawyer for Mission 7 Ministries, Andrew MacKenzie, filed an appeal of the sentence handed to Reimer right before Christmas.
This is not the first time Reimer has faced legal battles due to his protests against the LGBT agenda.
In a different case regarding a protest at a “drag queen story time” event held in February 2023 at Calgary’s Seton Public Library, the outcome was more favorable to Reimer. Judge Allan Fradsham found the pastor not guilty in September 2024.
However, despite that favorable ruling, the harassment continued when, in October, Reimer was visited by Calgary Police at his home after he was served a notice of appeal in that case by prosecutors.
As an example of how manipulative and shadowy these government officials are in their pursuit to protect the LGBTQ alternative lifestyle, while at the same time persecuting Christianity, after Reimer’s protest in February 2023, they passed the “Safe and Inclusive Access Bylaw” in March, a little over one week later.
This moronic piece of legislation bans protesting against drag queen story times or other LGBTQ events at public facilities in an expedited process that did not include the usual committee and public consultation process.
In a 10-5 vote, Calgary City councilors approved the new “Safe and Inclusive Access Bylaw” that would disallow “specified protests” both inside and outside all city-owned and affiliated public buildings.
This means that protests by pastors or concerned parents against radical LGBTQ events at public buildings will be prohibited within a 100-meter buffer zone around city recreation centers and libraries.
Individuals found guilty of violating the new rules may face fines of up to $10,000 and one year in jail.
The bylaw took effect immediately upon passage.
Wednesday, while Reimer was in court to go over the conditions of his sentence, he was arrested for failing to provide a written apology.
Everything about the scene of his arrest was just plain wrong. Here is a pastor voicing his beliefs against the perversion of having prancing drag queens indoctrinating kids. Despite suffering the indignity of an impromptu law passed in response to his protest, the man was unfairly given a year of house arrest and two years of probation. But to the Gestapo on the left, they had to rub his face further into the dirt because he refused to write a letter of apology to a freak librarian.
An independent Canadian journalist under the handle Dacey Media questioned the police during the arrest.
“Do you know why you’re arresting him? He won’t say sorry for his beliefs.”
Pro-freedom pastor Artur Pawlowski and Reimer’s young son were also present during the arrest. Videos of the arrest quickly spread on social media, with many Canadian activists justly condemning it as an attack on Christian and pro-family values.
Pro-family advocate Matt Alexander posted on X:
“Canadian pastor arrested for refusing COURT ORDERED LGBTQ APOLOGY. Derek Reimer is taken away. He protested a drag queen story hour and has faced legal repercussions for years. Religious freedom is gone.”
Another Canadian posted:
“Welcome to Canada, where freedom of religion and expression are no more. A pastor who would not apologize for opposing drag queen story hour has been arrested and could receive up to two years in prison. Pray for pastor Derek Reimer.”
Life Site News reported that at his court date to appeal the court’s decision, Reimer told the court that he entered:
“Into my freedom of conscience and a thorough study and my understanding of it, mixed with freedom of expression and religion, it explained and constituted that you have to express to the court your deeply held religious views of why this is a violation of your conscience and why you can’t do it.”
This should outrage every rational-thinking Canadian citizen. For the legislators to allow the LGBTQ perverted lifestyle to be put on display at a children’s hour, while arresting morally grounded people, for condemning the vile indoctrination of young minds, is stomach-turning.
Ask yourself this: Why is the left so focused on exposing children to these types of displays? You won’t like the answer, and it’s past time to put an end to this wickedness.
