Why The Somali Fraud in Minnesota is Likely just the Tip of the Iceberg
Winston Churchill once famously stated during World War Two in 1942 that it was not the beginning of the end, but rather the end of the beginning. This ominous declaration turned out, of course, to be true, as war raged for another two long years. Oftentimes, when major events occur, one can easily get wrapped up in the initial story and fail to see the unfolding and larger picture. This has been true throughout history, and Churchill’s wise saying seems particularly relevant today as well in regard to a number of events.
There is no chance that the massive and systemic fraud that has been occurring for years, if not decades, in the Somali community in Minnesota and likely in other states was not known about by the top Democrats who have run this state for years. Several DHS whistleblowers have already confirmed that both Minnesota Governor Waltz and the state’s Attorney General Keith Ellison were well aware of this fraud, and these individuals still did nothing to even investigate the claims of significant and consistent criminal activity. Ilhan Omar has been the person spearheading bringing in Somali refugees to the state of Minnesota, and unsurprisingly, the corrupt and disgusting congresswoman has seen her net worth rise dramatically since she has been in the House. Omar’s husband, Tim Mynett, was a former political consultant who suddenly opened a winery and a venture capital firm. The political couple saw their net worth rise to between $6 million and $30 million as reported in the latest congressional disclosures.
The web of corruption in Minnesota goes deep. From fake non-profits that were clearly fronts, to daycare and Medicaid fraud, Omar and her Somali-supported community in Minnesota have likely stolen billions of dollars from taxpayers, in well-organized fraud campaigns that were almost definitely known about at the highest levels within the state. Tim Waltz, who has already announced he won’t run for reelection because of the evidence of his complicity in the fraud, has served as governor since 2019. There is simply no way that he and other top state officials weren’t aware of what was going on. Multiple state and federal officials in Minnesota in addition to the DHS whistleblower, have been talking about this widespread fraud for years.
Still, as concerning as this waste and abuse is, the real scandal is likely a level deeper. The true reason that Waltz, Newsom, and corrupt Democratic state governors across the country support illegal immigration is for power. This is a classic quid pro quo. The left supports allowing tens of millions of both legal and illegal immigrants into the country, Democrats look the other way while many of these individuals defraud the government at taxpayers’ expense, and these communities repay the politicians with votes to help keep them in political power. President Trump lost Minnesota in 2024 to Kamala Harris by nearly 130,000 votes, elections have been very close in this state for years. There is no doubt that the Somali community, nearly 89 percent of which has a household member on welfare and is receiving significant taxpayer money, has been critical to the Democrats remaining in power in Minnesota.
The supposed debate around illegal immigration has never been about that issue, the real controversy is around the left’s abuse of the system to maintain and expand political power. The Democrats’ views and values do not conform to those of most of the American people, and the Democrats know this. For the left, bringing in a massive amount of immigrants, both legally and illegally, is critical to the out-of-touch party’s ability to reach power. Immigrants, including illegal immigrants, are also counted in the census, which is key for the apportionment of congressional seats. Most on the left care little about real immigration, these same individuals were quick to oppose right-leaning Cuban immigrants from coming from the economically destroyed nation when Biden was President after natural disasters ravaged the island. The Democratic scam in Minnesota, California, and many other states has enabled the left to stay relevant for too long. Indeed, Trump’s efforts to stop the fraud in Omar’s home state and then expand criminal probes to other sanctuary cities and states are likely the end of the beginning, not the beginning of the end.
