The Distortion
The Progressive Left Is Not The Norm… It Is The Distortion.
And Deep Down They Know It…
They want to change things…
They pretend it’s for virtuous reasons…
But it’s really just to shift the power dynamics within our society to their favor…
And this is not just me speculating…
This is what I’ve been told in private conversations.
Let’s establish something that should be obvious but apparently needs to be said out loud.
Conservative by default is not the extreme position.
Conservative by definition means you are trying to CONSERVE something.
To preserve what exists.
To maintain a foundation that was established and has functioned.
That is the baseline.
That is the center. That is the norm.
Progressivism by definition means you are trying to CHANGE that.
To move away from the established norm because you disapprove of it.
They find it unjust or unfair or outdated or offensive.
That is not the center.
That is the departure FROM the center.
Words have meanings.
And when we stop using them correctly or intentionally change their definitions and meanings we lose the ability to think clearly.
Now before anyone comes into my comments… yes there are extremes on the conservative side too.
Legalism is real.
Extremism isn’t healthy…
There are people who take conservative values and weaponize them into rigid oppressive systems that leave no room for grace or growth or nuance.
That is a distortion of conservatism just as much as anything on the other side.
Acknowledging that costs me nothing because it’s true.
But that is not what we are talking about today.
Here is what we are talking about.
In America right now progressivism is being presented as if it is the reasonable mainstream position and conservatism is being framed as the radical fringe.
And that is one of the most successful inversions of reality that has ever been pulled off in the public square.
And here’s the part that should stop you dead in your tracks …
if you ask many progressives directly whether they are trying to fundamentally transform America they will tell you YES.
Proudly.
That is the stated goal.
They want the fundamental transformation of American life and values because they find those values unacceptable.
So conservatives get maligned as racists and white supremacists and oppressors simply for saying…
We would like to keep what has worked even though we acknowledge how imperfect it is.
We would like to preserve the foundations, minus the obvious evil stuff.
And the people who openly say they want to dismantle those foundations get treated as the reasonable ones in the room.
That is the game.
And you need to see it for what it is.
Now let me tell you where I stand personally because this is important.
I am a Christian first.
And as a Christian I am conservative by NATURE.
Not by political party or platform allegiance.
By nature.
Because my entire faith is built around conserving what Christ handed to His Apostles and what they handed to the men they trusted the faith with.
I am trying to preserve something ancient and true and tested.
That is the definition of conservative.
My politics flow through that lens.
They have to. I have no other honest option.
And I am not a legalist.
I believe in grace.
I believe Christ shows mercy to people who are growing.
I believe in giving people room to be transformed.
That is not in conflict with conservatism…
That IS the gracious version of it.
But when I look at what progressive ideology is producing I cannot call it good and remain honest.
The deterioration of the family structure.
Gender ideologies being introduced to children before they have the developmental capacity to process them.
The systematic dismantling of institutions that have held communities together for generations.
The radicalization of education into ideological indoctrination.
These are not upgrades.
That is not progress.
Progress toward what exactly?
They want to call this the new norm.
But you cannot make something normal simply by insisting loudly enough that it is.
I must be conservative.
Not because I hate anyone.
Not because I want anyone to suffer.
Not because I am afraid of change.
But because I actually believe some things are worth conserving.
And that used to be the most uncontroversial thing a person could say.
