“The Wheels Of Justice Turn Slowly,” But Injustice Took Only 84 Minutes
The phrase “The Wheels of Justice Turn Slowly” originated as a Greek Proverb that was later blended with Legal idioms. Attributed to Greek philosopher Sextus Empiricus, the original phrasing stated: “The mills of the Gods grind slowly.”
In fact, the statement is truer today. Trial times can become outrageous. The investigations are intricate because if they aren’t, there is probably a liberal judge out there working hard to find a loophole rather than to find justice. Appeals and general law red tape can push trials back for years until they even start.
Sadly, liberal wokeness has seeped so far into the system that a “revolving door” justice system has been created by Democrats and their leash holders, the radical left. The justice system in many blue cities now resembles a catch-and-release fishing trip. Police arrest the criminals, and because of either a non-existent bond system or a “No Bail” requirement, they can be back on the streets in no time. Imagine what that does to the morale of a police force. Especially when they can’t go more than a few days before there is a Democrat screaming somewhere that the police need to be abolished.
The latest example is a thug named David Simpson. Last Tuesday, this 29-year-old punk posted out on a minimal $10,000 bond on a charge of failing to appear in court after having been charged with having a weapon while he was a prisoner.
On Wednesday, he was released from the Mecklenburg County Jail at 12:21 am. 84 minutes later, at 1:45 a.m., he shot two victims in the back, killing one and seriously wounding another.
This individual is a convicted murderer who should not have been free to terrorize anyone. Court records indicate that Simpson was charged with first-degree murder in a fatal shooting in 2013. However, he pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in 2015. He served approximately five years in prison before being released on parole in 2020.
Has he kept his nose clean since then? Of course not. WBTV reported that this scum was arrested several more times, including on multiple charges of possession of a firearm by a felon.
WCNC reported that in this year alone, Simpson had pending charges for possession of a firearm by a felon, resisting a public officer, and misdemeanor larceny.
By the way, take a guess what triggered this moron to shoot two people, killing one of them just 84 minutes after being released from prison? According to the police, the shooting was a result of a prolonged dispute over a parking space outside the apartment complex. Officers had been called to the property twice that night due to arguments between the victims and some residents regarding where the victims had parked.
Surveillance video referenced in police documents shows Simpson outside with his girlfriend when the victims’ SUV drove past. Detectives reported that Simpson went inside, returned carrying a weighted black bag, and ran toward the victims.
Ten minutes later, two gunshots were heard on the video. Approximately thirty seconds after that, Simpson was seen jogging back toward his apartment while carrying the bag before driving away, investigators reported. Officers recovered two spent casings from a 7.62-caliber rifle at the scene.
Charlotte defense attorney Tim Cannady, who has no involvement in this case but who obviously has a keen grasp of the obvious, questioned why Simpson was even on the streets with his past.
He told WCNC:
“If you look at his history, it seems like this gentleman has picked up just about every year up to this point some kind of a violent crime. So, you kind of have to ask the question: Why wasn’t he already in jail?”
Former Charlotte City Council member Tariq Bokhari also chimed in, telling WBTV:
“We know what these top one percent of repeat offenders are going to do, and for some reason, we just don’t have the appetite to take action. It feels like ‘Groundhog Day,’ to be quite honest.”
Always the charmer, this slug of a human being refused to leave his jail cell for his first scheduled court appearance Friday morning, delaying the hearing until a judge ordered him to appear later that afternoon.
Shakema Scott, Simpson’s girlfriend, has also been charged as an accessory after the fact. Simpson is scheduled to return to court on August 21.
There is no logical argument as to why this hood only served five years for voluntary manslaughter, other than another liberal judge turned him loose way too early. Now, 84 minutes after being released after God knows how many other arrests, he murders again.
Democrats will continue to defend this type of stupidity in the same way they want us to believe that communism is a good thing. One person is dead, and another is fighting for their life, all because liberal Democrats don’t give a damn about victims and continue to put murderers back on the streets.
