Department Of Education Continues To Get Failing Grades

What happens when the federal department in charge of education spends its time and money prioritizing pie-in-the-sky social issues over meaningful education?

For far too long, we have listened to the spoiled teachersโ€™ union, led by the foul-mouthed extreme leftist Randi Weingarten, whom, like Spanberger in Virginia, I personally can barely stand to look at, whine and cry about everything that doesn’t suit their agenda.

On October 17, 1979, Jimmy Carter signed the Department of Education into law as a political payoff to the National Education Association, which had made its first-ever presidential endorsement to help him secure the presidency.

The do-nothing, โ€œAwe Shucksโ€ peanut farmer from Georgia knew how to butter other people’s bread to get elected, but had no idea how to govern Mayberry, let alone the United States.

He promised a new department that would make the federal government serve America’s children more effectively, more efficiently, and more responsively. Sadly, all he did was create a bloated, woke, money-eating monster thatโ€™s run by leftists who care nothing about true education and who would rather focus on make-believe issues like gender identity, climate change, and systemic white supremacy.

Instead of focusing on actual learning that will advance the countryโ€™s future, such as READING, MATH, SCIENCE, and the ability to write in an INTELLIGENT manner, the left wants to breed misinformed future Democrats that hate America, American traditions, and Western Culture.

Since that signing, per-pupil spending has increased by over 245 percent. However, the NAEP scores โ€“ America’s own national report card โ€“ have declined every decade since then.

Linda McMahon, the U.S. Secretary of Education, read the report card, and the numbers are devastating, and she wants all of America to know. On her stop in Utah, one of 50 states on her tour, she made her feelings clear.

She told Fox News Digital:

“We’ve spent this $3 trillion that you referenced, and we’ve watched scores continue to come down. So, we’re doing something wrong. We need to reset.”

Ya Think?

Three trillion dollars for this?

Math proficiency in American high school seniors is at 22 percent (Yes, I said 22 percent), the lowest number ever recorded since testing began.

More bad news:

Seventy percent of fourth- and eighth graders are not proficient in reading.

Sixty percent of fourth graders cannot perform at grade level in math.

American students rank 28th out of 37 developed nations in math.

The federal government allocated $7 billion for School Improvement Grants, a single program, yet a federal study found it resulted in no measurable difference in test scores or graduation rates.

Throwing money at a problem doesnโ€™t solve it, but it does waste money. Woke vague plans donโ€™t educate children, it suffocates wisdom. The money only covers up the suppression of the leftโ€™s agenda.

This is nothing new. Every Republican president since Reagan has talked about shrinking the Department of Education.

Trump and McMahon are the first ones actually doing it. McMahonโ€™s job is not easy. Uprooting bureaucrats entrenched in positions that need to disappear is not pleasant. She facilitated nine interagency agreements, including transferring student loan management to the Treasury Department, to demonstrate that Washingtonโ€™s education bureaucracy can be restructured without dire consequences.

Utah is stop number 47 on her tour of all 50 states. She is working to convince everyone involved- teachers, parents, and students that the money should be handled by individual states. The Department of Education doesnโ€™t control what your child is taught in the classroom. It largely functions as a pass-through for the money, and much of it disappears before it reaches the classrooms it was meant for.

“Our goal is to make sure that we move administrative programs that focus more on adults out of Washington, D.C., so that we can get all of those dollars back into education in the states.โ€

The leftโ€™s agenda can be described in many terms. Three foundational words are greed, power, and influence. They prefer to work in the dark, and anyone who turns on the lights is vilified as a criminal.

Yes, itโ€™s an extremely unique form of projection. Democrats commit crimes, and then if they are exposed, they scream harassment. They want the public to forget that they were the ones actually committing the crimes.

The โ€œplandemicโ€ helped to expose the truth about American education. Parents had no choice but to get involved in their children’s educational lives, and what they learned was shocking. Education had been replaced with indoctrination. When they started showing up at school board meetings, woke officials criticized and shunned them. The left called them extremists for demanding that they do their jobs and warning them to stay out of their childrenโ€™s personal lives.

McMahon put it this way:

“Parents, for the first time, could see what was going on with education, with the curriculum that was being taught to their children. They became involved, they became concerned, and they started going to school board meetings.”

For decades, Democrats have built a bureaucratic system that channels tax dollars through Washington and returns them to the states, but with various conditions attached. These conditions include ideological requirements, diversity compliance mandates, and other stipulations unrelated to ensuring a child can read or add at an appropriate grade level.

The parents were justifiably outraged; children are the future, and the left is manipulating their minds into their own woke image.

McMahon is pushing for this necessary change. Three trillion dollars and counting, while America continues to be dumbed down. The question is, when the time comes, will Congress vote to rid the country of this unnecessary department?

“I know, ultimately, Congress has to vote if we do close the Department of Education. I believe the outcome will be better for students โ€“ and that is the goal.”

The name: The Department of Education is a true oxymoron. This bureaucratic snake pit has succeeded at only two things: draining money and draining brains, and neither is something to be proud of.
