The Left is Choosing Our Presidential Candidate Whether We Like It or Not

James is a typical populist Republican.

Heโ€™s raising a family of three in the southwest while running a successful subcontracting company in the Phoenix metro area. He tells me his wife, Lupita, agrees with the Bud Light boycott (even though neither of them indulges), but she is less enthusiastic about the Target boycott than her husband. Both are strongly opposed to men participating in womenโ€™s sports and are appalled by the situation at the border. James strongly believes the last two elections were rigged, while Lupita is more concerned about the woke curriculum in their local schools.

They both voted for Trump in 2016 and 2020 but were undecided about 2024. They wanted to see how the primary season played out. That is, at least until woke leftists weaponized the justice system against the leading opposition candidate.

โ€œI wanted to watch DeSantis on the debate stage with the others,โ€ James told me as he did some work on my house. โ€œDonโ€™t get me wrong; I like Trumpโ€™s policies. He was great for the country, but a lot of times he doesnโ€™t know when to keep his mouth shut. And the constant braggingโ€ฆ It gets old, and itโ€™s exhausting.โ€

So, I wondered, what had changed his mind, and who was he going to vote for?

โ€œWhen the Democrats decided to use the courts to keep Trump from running, that made the decision for me. There is no way we can allow these morons to choose our candidates for us. Theyโ€™re railroading him, and we canโ€™t let that happen. There just isnโ€™t any choice. We all have to vote for Trump now.โ€

At that moment, it occurred to me that regardless of the outcome, woke leftists have outmaneuvered feckless Republicans yet again. The latest indictment triggered a predictable result: Trumpโ€™s support actually increased, indicating that many GOP voters are seeing it the same way as James and Lupita. Yet, weโ€™re left to wonder if that support is organic or artificial? Would the polls be much closer if Trump hadnโ€™t been indicted?

In some respects, this development leaves Republican voters in a no-win situation. On the one hand, we canโ€™t stand by passively as leftists use a weaponized justice system to deny the oppositionโ€™s front runner an opportunity to represent his/her party in the presidential election, which is ostensibly what leftist zealots are trying to do. On the other hand, voting for Trump because he is being unfairly targeted might equally skew the results of the primary election, stifling meaningful debate and discussion.

In other words, if the leftists had left Trump alone, would he have survived a challenge from DeSantis and the others?

The truth is, weโ€™ll probably never know.

The Party of Sleaze

This unprecedented level of election interference signals a new low in the Democratโ€™s bag of sleazy, dirty tricks. In every major election, they unleash a new set of despicable tactics for the sole purpose of rigging elections. Meanwhile, stiffs like Mitch McConnell sit on the sidelines, silently cheering the perversion of the Constitution. Worse, lapdogs like sloppy, bitter Chris Christie, who has no real chance of winning anything, use the opportunity to create a platform solely for attacking Trump and America First.

One can only hope that more Republicans like Matt Gaetz and Marjorie Taylor Greene wake up and get a few whiffs of the rotting corpse of the Republican party because thatโ€™s what itโ€™s going to be if there isnโ€™t a radical change of election tactics. The days of stodgy, โ€œgentlemanlyโ€ elections are over. Itโ€™s as if the Democrats peeled out of the blocks in 2020 and kicked mud all over their Republican opponents, who stand around looking dumbfounded while waiting for the starterโ€™s pistol.

In case they need to be reminded, Democrats have dragged American elections down to the third world level, like every other facet of American life. Greene recently introduced articles of impeachment against Biden, which is a good start. Those hearings should begin today, and then they should be fast tracked. If Democrats want to set the precedent of impeaching every opposition president that doesnโ€™t cater to their radical agenda, so be it, but they need to understand that every one of their future presidents will be impeached as well.

Republicans might consider hiring Nigeriaโ€™s Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Turkeyโ€™s Recep Tayyip Erdogan as campaign consultants. Both have impressive credentials when it comes to winning elections by questionable means. In no-holds-barred contests, where honesty and fairness are irrelevant, Republicans need a crash course in manipulating election boards, hacking into tabulation servers and jailing the opposition. Certainly, experts like Tinubu and Erdogan could help.

As for 2024, I just hope Democrats reveal the candidate theyโ€™ve chosen to represent us in the general election before the primary season starts. It would save the Republican party a lot of money and needless effort, and we could get those mail-in ballots harvested earlierโ€ฆ
