Once Upon A Time There Was A Woke, Empowered Waiter…

I know this happened last week, but it is such a shining example of woke empowerment that I wanted to highlight it. I’m also curious about what your reaction would have been if you were a passenger on this flight.

This all started last Tuesday on American Airlines flight 2557, which was leaving from JFK airport in New York, bound for Georgetown, Guyana. As the people were boarding, one business class passenger, Joel Ghansham, asked a male flight attendant to assist him in placing his bag in the overhead compartment. Ghansham was seeking assistance because he was recovering from neck/back and eye surgery.

According to Ghansham’s account, this is where things began to go downhill. He claims that the attendant told him, “I don’t do that, I don’t get paid for that.” Ghansham states he then leaned in closer to the attendant and quietly informed him about his surgery. He explained that he had to wear a brace for four hours a day and that he was wearing it at that time. According to Ghansham, his explanation about why he needed assistance apparently didn’t phase the attendant, who then stated, “I already told you; I am not getting paid to lift a bag and if you don’t like it you can get another flight.”

At that point, Ghansham claims that he turned and stepped back to his seat, where another male flight attendant said, I’m so sorry about that, let me help you. The attendant then lifted his bag and deposited it in the overhead compartment.

Ghansham estimates that they were about an hour or so into the flight when beverage service began. He was seated in row 2, seat 2E and claims that the same attendant walked past him, took the drink orders from row 1, then bypassed his row and took the orders in row 3. He states that the attendant then leaned over him from behind and smugly asked “do you want something to drink.” When Ghansham didn’t respond, his tone grew harsher when he asked again, do you want a drink? To which Ghansham answered, “no thank-you, waiter.”

Uh Oh, the snowflake had his button pushed.

The woke attendant then indignantly stated that he was not a waiter and he “had the power to turn the plane around.” To which Ghansham responded, “you must be God, so do it.”

Sure enough, shortly thereafter the pilot announced that the plane was returning to JFK airport. Upon arriving back at JFK, Ghansham was greeted by an agent from the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and a police officer. During his interview, Ghansham stated:

“There was not a disruption. I never got up. There was not an argument, there was not a confrontation, nobody touched each other. He was wearing a mask. He wasn’t even loud. It was just his pride.”

After giving his statement, Ghansham was allowed to leave. He then asked a poignant question. “If I was rude or belligerent wouldn’t they have arrested me?”

Indeed.

For their part, a spokesperson for American Airlines made the following obligatory statement:

“American Airlines flight 2557, with service from New York (JFK) to Georgetown, Guyana (GEO), returned to JFK on Tuesday due to a disruptive customer. Safety and security are our top priorities, and we thank our customers for their understanding and our team members for their professionalism in managing a difficult situation.”

Wrong, and I do hope that American Airlines disciplines the snowflake attendant that I’m guessing is perpetually offended by everything. This petulant brat obviously needs his wings clipped. He disrupted the plans and schedules of every passenger on that flight and to allow the waste of time, resources, and money to go unpunished would be indefensible.

The name on  the side of the airplane says “American” in Big Bold letters. Let’s see how they represent that name. Will they allow a woke radical with misplaced authority to be emboldened and take advantage of them, or will they do the right thing and discharge him.
