The Ivory Tower At Harvard Continues To Lean Hard Left

I have written numerous columns about Harvard in the past two years. Once known as a prestigious Ivy League institution, it has now fallen into the trap of being overly politically correct. From biased and unfair admission standards to a staff of professors and administrators who push leftist ideologies, Harvard has become a place of indoctrination. In my humble opinion, it is best to avoid the school as it can no longer justify its dangerous societal positions or exorbitant tuition fees.

Having been condemned for the practice in the past, Harvard is once again practicing segregation by offering multiple graduation ceremonies based on race.

In a Fox News Interview, Congressman Burgess Owens (R-Utah) stated his mind concerning the current system of education.

โ€œWe have a system now thatโ€™s broken. On these campuses, we have an evil being taught. Itโ€™s a virus. Itโ€™s called DEI, which stands for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.โ€ Owens went on to describe DEI as a โ€œMarxist-based ideology that believes there is an oppressor race and an oppressed race.โ€ He emphasized that the Left identifies whites and Jews as oppressors.

Last week, Randall L. Kennedy, the Michael R. Klein Professor at Harvard Law School, argued in The Harvard Crimson campus newspaper that:

โ€œThe practice of demanding them ought to be abandoned, both at Harvard and beyond. I am a scholar on the left committed to struggles for social justice. The realities surrounding mandatory DEI statements, however, make me wince.โ€

However, even when a leftist professor points out the absurdities of the woke administration, nothing seems to change. A prime example is that the university plans once again to move ahead with its segregated commencement ceremonies called โ€œaffinity celebrations.โ€

National Review reported:

โ€œHarvard plans to hold a โ€˜Disability Celebration,โ€™ a โ€˜Global Indigenous Celebration,โ€™ an โ€˜Asian American, Pacific Islander, Desi-American (APIDA) Celebration,โ€™ a โ€˜First Generation-Low Income Celebration,โ€™ a โ€˜Jewish Celebration,โ€™ a โ€˜Latinx Celebration,โ€™ a โ€˜Lavender Celebrationโ€™ which refers to LGBT students, a โ€˜Black Celebration,โ€™ a โ€˜Veterans Celebration,โ€™ and an โ€˜Arab Celebration.โ€™โ€

Notably absent from the list of ceremonies is a White student Celebration, and it needs to be noted that until the school was called out by Manhattan Instituteโ€™s Christopher Rufo, no Jewish student Celebration was scheduled either.

Divinity School student Shabbos Kestenbaum believes that โ€œHarvard DEI is simply out of control.โ€ He went on to explain that Harvard not only fails to recognize โ€œthe harmful ways in which Harvard DEI has contributed to issues such as campus antisemitism, but the university only further marginalizes individuals into groups of race, ethnicity, and religion.โ€

Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-N.C.), chairwoman of the Education and Workforce Committee, agreed:

โ€œGraduation ceremonies should unite students, instead, Harvard is dividing its student body even further by playing into identity politics and radical DEI ideologies.โ€

In an interview with the Washington Stand, Joseph Backholm, Family Research Councilโ€™s senior fellow for Biblical Worldview and Strategic Engagement stated:

โ€œThese decisions are rooted in a moral analysis that is focused not on what someone does but on who they are. Racial discrimination isnโ€™t always wrong, it just depends on who is doing it and why. If itโ€™s done by the oppressed to the oppressors, then itโ€™s good. If itโ€™s being done by the oppressors to the oppressed, then itโ€™s bad. Itโ€™s the same moral reasoning that results in sympathy for mass murder and mass rape conducted by Hamas. Because theyโ€™re identified by the Left as the โ€˜oppressed,โ€™ their wicked behavior is sanitized as โ€˜resistance.โ€™ What it comes down to is this, Identity politics not only asks us to prioritize trivial characteristics like sex and ethnicity over meaningful things like character and competency, but it destroys our ability to do basic moral reasoning.โ€

Harvard is driving wedges between students based only on racial ethnicity.  That division fails to recognize the complexity of each individual and instead uses the shallowest differences such as skin color for segregation purposes.

Labeling these as affinity celebrations is a disguise for destroying harmony with pleasant sounding language. Harvard has been reduced from an institution of higher learning to a sad landfill of woke leftist waste.
