The Many Reasons Trump will Easily Win any Trade War with the EU and Canada
Trump derangement syndrome continues to be a very real condition. While some have accepted the clear and strong message sent by the American people when they elected the 47th President in November, there are many, including foreign countries, that refuse to accept the political will of the citizens of the United States. Many Democrats, such as pathetic Congressman Al Green, continue to try to use childish tactics to obstruct the President and his agenda. There are many countries abroad that are determined to oppose Trump as well.
Despite the usual lying by the media, what Trump is actually doing by taking economic action against Canada and Europe, is imposing reciprocal tariffs. Canada and the EU have been ripping off the United States for many years by not paying the continent’s fair share of NATO, and also imposing heavy duties on US companies. Canada also contributes very minimally to NATO as well, and the northern neighbor of the US imposes heavy tariffs on many US goods entering the Canadian markets. Trump position is clear, the US is not going to allow foreign countries to rip America off while the middle class in the US disappears. The President’s position is the right one, and despite the current bluff by EU and Canadian leaders, there are multiple reasons why the US will easily win any trade war with Europe or Canada.
The American economy is valued at 29 trillion dollars in nominal GDP.. The Canadian economy’s nominal GDP is 2.117 trillion dollars, the German economy is nearly estimated to be nearly 4.2 trillion dollars, and the French economy is projected in 2025 to be nearly 3.2 trillion dollars. The overall EU economy is nearly is 19.4 trillion dollars. These numbers are also misleading because the US economy is fueled primarily by domestic consumer spending, while Germany and France are much more reliant on exports to the American market. The United States had a nearly 236 billion dollar trade deficit with Europe in 2024, and America is also paying for much of the continent’s security through NATO. The United States pays for nearly 16 percent of NATO’s budget, and America also contributes nearly 3.5 percent of our annual GDP to this alliance, while no other EU country besides Poland contributes more than 2.2 percent of these countries’ GDP to NATO. The US allocated nearly $4.7 billion to NATO for 2025, but that number is misleading because the United States also has a far superior intelligence capability as well as a significant number of troops stationed in Europe. America has nearly 84,000 active duty troops throughout the European continent right now.
Trump has all the leverage with both Canadian and EU leaders, and the President knows this fact is true. Both Canada and the EU depend on the US to subsidize them economically and militarily. The relationship is one-sided, which is the whole point that President Trump has been making since 2015, when he initially announced his fun for the White House. The reality is that the President successfully called Europe’s bluff with Ukraine, and he will again successfully read this fake show of strength by Canadian and EU leaders as well. Trump is determined to stop other countries from ripping the US, and the President is again positioning the US to reach the kind of strong and long-lasting deals previous American leaders didn’t even attempt to get done.
