Safe Roads And English = Racism
A standard fully loaded semi-truck and trailer in the United States typically weighs up to 80,000 pounds (40 tons), which is the maximum legal limit without special permits. When empty, a standard tractor-trailer combination usually weighs between 30,000 and 35,000 pounds.
Those facts and figures should be enough to want someone competent behind the wheel. What rational person thinks it’s too much to ask that someone who’s driving a 40-ton missile should be able to read a street sign?
The keyword in that sentence is rational, and when you’re talking about Democrats, that word becomes as rare as hen’s teeth.
Last week, all California Democrats running for governor stated that requiring truck drivers to possess a basic understanding of the English language is racist.
The California Highway Patrol started enforcing English-language proficiency requirements for roadside traffic stops earlier this year. This change followed President Trump’s executive order mandating English proficiency for commercial truck drivers.
The executive order concerns public safety, not racism. In California alone, approximately 17,000 undocumented individuals obtained CDL licenses. Sanctuary cities like those in California are placing millions of lives at risk.
Additionally, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy withheld $160 million in funding from California due to Governor Gavin Newsom’s refusal to revoke commercial driver’s licenses (CDLs) issued to undocumented immigrants.
This is the problem with radical Democrats like Newsom. Not only do they make poor decisions, they defiantly refuse to correct them. This is so ridiculous that it shouldn’t even be up for debate. It is only common sense that any driver, commercial or private, who is driving on America’s roadways should understand English and be able to read the signs.
Yet, the Democrats in California think that requiring immigrants and minorities to understand English signage is “racial profiling and a form of terrorism.”
Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco, who is also a Republican Candidate for Governor, has had it with Democrats always playing the race card.
“Let’s stop with this whole racism thing, and racial profiling, and all of this garbage. We have to get over this. You either violated the law or you didn’t, end of story. Consequences for bad behavior.”
That truth rubbed Democrat Katie Porter the wrong way.
“I am stunned that Mr. Bianco would say to black and brown Californians and immigrants who are being terrorized and racially profiled that you have to ‘get over’ racism. It’s not something that you ‘get over, it’s something that you ‘fight.’ If he doesn’t understand the importance of that, he has no business representing a state with the diversity of California.”
Before the questioning about this issue began, a news clip was shown of an officer administering a field test to determine whether a commercial driver who spoke Spanish could understand road signs. Once again, Xavier Beccera, former Biden administration Health and Human Services Secretary, had to drop the race card.
“Is that officer asking everyone he pulls over to explain those road signs? Or is he asking only people who look like me? If he’s doing that, then he’s violating the law.”
Naturally, if Democrats are against something, it’s a sure bet that their donors are.
So, it wasn’t a surprise that liberal billionaire megadonor Tom Steyer also chimed in.
“Racial profiling is illegal. And, in fact, picking on people based on the color of their skin in the state of California is illegal.”
Republican gubernatorial candidate Steve Hilton agrees with Sheriff Bianco.
“It is completely ridiculous that we have people driving on our roads who can’t understand road signs and can’t speak English.”
In an incident last August, a fatal crash involving an 18-wheeler driven by an illegal immigrant was caused after an illegal U-turn was made by the foreign driver. Subsequent investigations revealed the driver lacked English proficiency. Three innocent people were killed needlessly.
White House Spokeswoman Abigail Jackson told Fox News Digital at the time.
“This is a devastating tragedy made even worse by the fact that it was totally preventable. Illegal aliens that have no legal right to be in our country certainly should not be granted commercial driver’s licenses.”
California has no defense regarding the illegal issuance of these licenses. This is yet another example of Democrats being more concerned about remaining woke than the safety of American citizens.
It’s bad enough that conservatives in California have to tolerate these endless elections where delusional Democrats are elected, but they are punishing the rest of the country by putting these 80,000-pound missiles on the road, where they can be lethal anywhere.
It gets old watching Democrats attempt to defend the indefensible, especially when they are willing to sacrifice innocent lives just to maintain a woke image.
