Mike Pence Continues to Embarrass Himself
The middle is gone in American politics. While there are some moderates in both parties, the majority of the more prominent Democratic and Republican leaders are on the left or the right. The Democratic party has gone far to the left since 2016 when Bernie and the progressives began to slowly take over the politics of the Democrats after his strong run against Hillary Clinton in the 2016 primaries. Today, the Democratic party supports the Green New Deal, massive spending, high taxes, and an open border. The moderate policies of the Democratic party seen in the 1990s are long gone. The differences between the Republicans and Democrats today couldn’t be more stark, and well-known politicians should be taking sides in this more polarized environment.
When President Trump picked Pence as his Vice Presidential candidate in 2016 the Indiana politician had almost no national profile. Trump chose the Governor and picked him despite the fact that he did not bring a lot to the ticket outside of consolidating support with the Evangelical base. This is why Pence’s recent behavior criticizing Trump and even accepting awards from the left for his actions on January 6th are so shameful. The Governor of Indiana recently received a profile in courage award from the left-leaning Kennedys for his actions on January 6th. The Governor went to an event to receive this accommodation and give a speech.
Mike Pence is embarrassing himself and also showing no appreciation to the President, who elevated him from obscurity just 9 years ago. Today, the middle in American politics is gone, there are few moderates with significant power in either party. In this kind of political environment, the actions Pence is taking, frequently criticizing Trump and even accepting awards for his opposition to the President equate to siding with the left and what the Democrat party today represents. While obviously the Republican party should have lively and open debates, and Trump should be criticized when he makes mistakes, consistently siding with the left when these individuals support open borders, censorship, and prosecuting the President and his supporters, is an act of cowardice. Mike Pence is essentially a member of the far-left Democratic party now.
There have been a number of former Republicans who have consistently opposed Trump since he came to power in 2016. Former Senator Romney and current Senator Lisa Murkowski voted to remove Trump from power after the Democratic pathetic impeachment attempt, and Liz Cheney tried to keep the current President from running in 2024 as well. Most of Trump’s opponents have retired or been defeated over the last 9 years, the President has outlasted nearly all his political opposition on the right and left. What Trump’s opposition has failed to understand though is that in today’s political environment where the middle is gone constantly criticizing the President is the equivalent of siding with the current far-left version of the Democratic Party.
While no one believes Trump is a perfect person, no one was murdered on January 6th, and the left’s attempts to use that event to smear the President and the MAGA movement have been disgusting. Democrats have blown the events of that day grossly out of proportion to manipulate the public, and the January 6th hearings were a fraud designed to shame people into not supporting Trump. For Mike Pence to be openly accepting awards from far-left groups trying to use January 6th to smear MAGA shows how embarrassing the former Vice President has become.
