Trump Is Right, There’s A “Fungus Among Us”

For all the Trump haters out there, try to understand that, unlike Biden, who did nothing over a four-year period, Trump does many impactful things every day. The difference is that the MSM either doesn’t report them or, when they do, they frame the stories into something that they are not.

Trump recognized that many Chinese students are enrolling in various American colleges. He plans to implement careful scrutiny for these students moving forward. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated on social media Wednesday that Chinese students with ties to the Communist Party or those studying in “critical fields” will have their visas revoked.

Rubio’s statement was made during the Trump administration’s trade war with China and followed an order for U.S. embassies and consulates to pause scheduling visa interviews for international students while considering ways to revise social media screening and vetting for applicants.

In a post on X, Rubio wrote:

“The U.S. will begin revoking visas of Chinese students, including those with connections to the Chinese Communist Party or studying in critical fields.”

“Under President Trump’s leadership, the U.S. State Department will work with the Department of Homeland Security to aggressively revoke visas for Chinese students, including those with connections to the Chinese Communist Party or studying in critical fields. We will also revise visa criteria to enhance scrutiny of all future visa applications from the People’s Republic of China and Hong Kong.”

During a press conference in the Oval Office, Trump expressed concerns that international students make up too large a portion of the student body and referred to some foreign students as “troublemakers.”

“These countries aren’t helping us. They’re not investing in Harvard … We are. So why would 31 percent — why would a number so big? I think they should have a cap of maybe around 15 percent, not 31 percent.”

“We have people who want to go to Harvard and other schools, but they can’t get in because we have foreign students there. But I want to make sure that the foreign students are people that can love our country. We don’t want to see shopping centers exploding. We don’t want to see the kind of riots that you had. And I’ll tell you what, many of those students didn’t go anywhere. Many of those students were troublemakers caused by the radical left lunatics in this country.”

Without getting into specifics, Trump said that he doesn’t want “radical people” coming to the U.S. as students and “making trouble in our country.”

According to the Institute of International Education, there are approximately 277,398 Chinese students in the United States, making them the second largest group of international students, after India. Most of these students are pursuing degrees in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics—fields of high interest for Chinese Communist Party espionage.

As the State Department plans to restrict Chinese student visas, the Wall Street Journal has published a report detailing the university’s alleged connections to the Chinese Communist Party, describing it as a preferred institution for China’s political elite.

According to the Journal, a 2014 article from the Shanghai Observer referred to Harvard as the ruling party’s top “overseas party school.”

“If we were to rank the Chinese Communist Party’s ‘overseas party schools,’ the one deserving top spot has to be Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government,” the online platform run by the city’s main party newspaper said.

The report cites a training program from the 2000s called “China’s Leaders in Development.”

This action is both necessary and long overdue. For years, China has systematically targeted U.S. universities by utilizing Chinese students to carry out extensive espionage and engage in intellectual property theft on prestigious campuses across the United States. This has significantly contributed to China’s technological and military advancements.

To understand how China utilizes its students for espionage, check out the remarkable investigative report Stanford Review reporters Garret Molloy and Elsa Johnson published last month. They documented the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) infiltration of Stanford University.

“The CCP is orchestrating a widespread academic espionage campaign at Stanford,” Johnson stated in a recent podcast interview. “Stanford is situated in the heart of Silicon Valley,” she added, “which is a significant incentive for China.”

Johnson and Molloy interviewed Chinese nationals on campus who shared details about how espionage operates.

According to Molloy:

“In conversations, Chinese students reported, ‘Every single week, I’m asked to meet with a handler who asks about the research I’m doing, the direction that research is taking, how that research is progressing, and how we could potentially implement that research back in China. If their handlers are interested in areas such as artificial intelligence or quantum computing, he added, “they will reach out to that student and request documents, internal memos, methodologies, and insights into future research directions.”

Johnson reports that some “students” work at espionage voluntarily.

“There are students who want to work with the Chinese government, and they’re eager to do this as a way to advance their careers.” Others, however, fall victim to what reporters describe as “transnational repression,” where Chinese state security extends its influence into the United States. In 2017, China enacted a National Intelligence Law that requires Chinese citizens to “support, assist, and cooperate with state intelligence work.” A law that is enforced whether they are in China or abroad.

The education and information this espionage gained is ultimately used against the United States.

Two Chinese researchers are allegedly involved in a case that could have threatened America’s food supply.

According to a news release from the Department of Justice, Yunqing Jian, 33, and Zunyong Liu, 34, have been charged with conspiracy, smuggling goods into the United States, making false statements, and committing visa fraud.

The release states that they are accused of smuggling a fungus known as Fusarium graminearum into America, which scientific literature identifies as a potential weapon for agroterrorism.

According to the release, the Chinese communist government funded Jian’s research in China. It is noteworthy that many graduate students are sponsored by state-backed organizations, such as the China Scholarship Council (CSC). The Chinese government utilizes the CSC to recruit students, cover their tuition, and, likely, monitor their activities at U.S. universities. Students funded by the CSC are required to pass loyalty tests to the Communist Party. Additionally, they must report to the Chinese consulate, providing information about research conducted at their universities, and are expected to engage in “peer surveillance” of other Chinese nationals.

In this case, the complaint stated that when law enforcement scanned her electronic devices, they discovered documentation of her membership in and loyalty to the Chinese Communist Party. Liu, who has claimed to be Jian’s boyfriend, also researched the same pathogen.

Liu admitted to authorities that he had smuggled Fusarium graminearum into the United States to conduct research with Jian.

According to the New York Post, A senior Trump official said, “This is an attack on the American food supply.”Bottom of Form The Post reported that while the fungus exists in the U.S., a modified strain could cause significant damage.

Republican House Intelligence Committee Chairman Rick Crawford of Arkansas stated:

“The CCP will use every tool in its warfare toolbox to cripple the United States and bring us to our knees. A pathogen like this, if successfully introduced into a crop, could inflict significant economic loss for U.S. agriculture producers.”

Joni Ernst, a Republican senator from Iowa, believes a major plot against America may have been disrupted.

“We are very fortunate the Trump administration and federal law enforcement stopped this potential bioweapon before it compromised our nation’s food supply.”

“This is exactly why I have always said and will continue to say — food security is national security. Between this latest bioweapon and China’s highly concerning purchases of U.S. farmland around our military bases, we must stay on guard against the threat from Communist China in our own backyard.”

A criminal complaint against two Chinese researchers alleges that they discussed plans to smuggle a harmful fungus into the United States.

According to a report by the Post, an unnamed national security source who specializes in agricultural microbiology stated:

“The bacteria infects wheat, barley, corn, and rice. When this occurs, it can devastate crops. The key question is if the bacterial strain being brought in has been modified to make it resistant to treatment or to make it more pathogenic.”

A 2018 article found on one of Liu’s devices was titled “2018 Plant-Pathogen Warfare under Changing Climate Conditions.” Authorities noted that the article discussed fungi as examples of destructive diseases and pathogens affecting crops, claiming they are responsible for billions of dollars in economic losses worldwide each year.

Liu first came to the attention of federal authorities in July 2024 when his luggage tested positive for a pathogen. Initially, he denied bringing it with him. Liu stated that he intended to clone strains of the pathogen. As a result, he was denied entry into the U.S.

Jian was investigated, and a search of her cell phone revealed a document she had signed, proclaiming her loyalty to China’s Communist Party.

FBI Special Agent Edward Nieh stated that Jian expressed allegiance to the principle of “upholding Mao Zedong thought and Marxism-Leninism.”

Jian was detained on Tuesday, while Liu remains at large.

The whiners on the left will protest and cry that Trump is being unfair by prohibiting our country from being destroyed by “students/spies” that sneak through the back door of our country.

Life is hard enough, and it gets harder when you’re stupid. It’s time for the left to take off their rainbow-colored glasses and face the reality that evil does exist, and educating it in our universities may be the woke thing to do, but it isn’t the intelligent way to run a country.
