Democrat Shows Up Disheveled And Drunk At A Committee Meeting

Washington state House Majority Leader Joe Fitzgibbon, a Democratic representative, has issued an apology after he was clearly intoxicated during a critical hearing.

Fitzgibbons was attending an executive session on House Bill 2289, as was reported by โ€œThe Center Square.โ€ Fitzgibbons didnโ€™t bring much to the table except some discombobulated and slurred speech that was so out of line that the committee chair had to call for a recess in the middle of the session so he could leave the room.

When he returned a short time later, Fitzgibbons tried to get back to business, but he only made matters worse.

โ€œI am grateful to all the members of this committee, all the members of the House for putting forward their ideas and making sure that the operating budget that weโ€™ve put forward does not forget that the people we are working to represent, people that we are working to lift up and support donโ€™t always have a voice in this process, and their voice is carried forward by the members of this body.โ€

โ€œThe Center Squareโ€ described his hair as โ€œdisheveled,โ€ and โ€œHe appeared glassy-eyed, with speech slurred as he urged support for the legislation.โ€

Realizing how poor his behavior appeared, Fitzgibbon issued a cringy statement to โ€œKOMO-TV.โ€

โ€œI deeply regret and apologize for the fact that I consumed alcohol before the work of the Appropriations Committee was completed on Wednesday, and the result was obvious. This was a serious mistake for many reasons. Being impaired in that situation was harmful to my work and to my co-workers.โ€

โ€œThis was a painful and embarrassing lesson, one I wonโ€™t forget, and I will not put myself and others in this situation again in the future.โ€

โ€œAgain, I apologize.โ€

“The Jason Rantz Show” was the first to report on this situation, and Fitzgibbons also issued a statement to them.

“I made a poor choice last night by drinking alcohol before we had finished our work for the day. I am disappointed in myself and take responsibility for that poor choice. It wonโ€™t happen again, and Iโ€™m committed to completing my work this session without alcohol.”

Is that a real concession? He promises not to drink until he finishes his work this session. Geez, arenโ€™t your constituents a bunch of lucky people?

A local Republican, Rep. Michelle Valdez, lambasted Fitzgibbon for his irresponsibility, telling  โ€œThe Center Square.โ€

โ€œThe sad part is you have to understand: He is responsible for our state and for Washington Democrats and also for our state budget. He has so much power, and it is so disenfranchising to know that heโ€™s drunk on the job.โ€

She then added the best line to describe the entire incident.

โ€œTo be honest, if I were in charge of our state budget and destroying the state, Iโ€™d probably drink, too.โ€

The Democrats are already suffering from too many delusions to count, and in the middle of a budget hearing, getting drunk was the solution Fitzgibbon chose.

Democratic Judgement is getting worse, not better. Fitzgibbon is a shining example of that.
