Associated Press Thinks The Olympics Are Too White

Liberals create problems where problems don’t exist. Everywhere they look, they imagine there must be some sort of injustice occurring. They thrive on turmoil and chaos, chasing imaginary oversights. If they aren’t accusing someone of something, they aren’t fulfilling their purpose as social justice warriors, and the spotlight is no longer on them.

The Associated Press recently decided that the European countries have dropped the DEI ball. In their opinion, the winter Olympic teams from those countries are too white.

Yes, you read that correctly. The AP, with all of its keen insight, has decided that instead of focusing on the games themselves and the competition, its time would be better spent playing the race card.

In a video posted on X, the race-baiting fools posted this:

“Immigration for Africa and the Middle East is changing the demographics of Europe’s top winter sports countries, but that hasn’t really translated to their largely white rosters heading to the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics. For instance, team Sweden is almost entirely made up of ethnically Swedish athletes, which is hardly a reflection of the country’s diversity, as Sweden has welcomed historic numbers of asylum seekers in recent decades.”

Imagine that a Swedish team made up of Swedes. Oh, the horror of it all.

Of course, it can never be as simple as a lack of interest in certain sports. No, to race-baiters, there has to be oppression involved. Society has to be responsible, and the left can always find a liberal “expert or researcher” who will agree with their imaginary tyranny.

Josef Fahlen is a professor of sport pedagogy at Umea University in Sweden. He claims that “It takes not years but decades” for a cultural shift large enough to change the perception of winter sports.

“It’s a matter of horizon. We need to show it’s possible to be a skier even if you might be from Tunisia or the West Bank.”

Another leftist, Stefan Jonsson, is a professor in Ethnicity and Migration Studies at Linköping University. Jonsson seems to have a very keen grasp of the obvious.

“It’s a fact that the best integrative force in society is team sports and sports clubs, where kids can go to do useful things together with others. There is so much research saying that if we want social and ethnic integration, this would be the primary thing.”

Yes, kids playing on sports teams is a good thing, but kids are still only going to play the sports that they are interested in, and you cannot force racial integration just for the sake of attaining a particular quota.

Sweden’s Ski Federation has a program they call “Alla På Snö” (“Everyone On Snow”).  The idea is to introduce more ethnic groups to skiing. They state that “We want to be better,” and that “inclusion is something we strive for.”

Since 2008, the program has reached approximately 30,000 children each year, providing them with access to the slopes and free equipment. Sweden also provides the Leisure Bank Project, where, similar to a library, kids can borrow skis and ski boots for up to 14 days

While projects like this appear worthwhile on the surface, two things occur to me when I learn about them. First, since the purpose is integration, are white children who may be underprivileged turned away? Also, I wonder about the cost of such a program and who is footing the bill. I also wonder if in countries where sports are dominated by people of color, are there programs offered to entice white children to participate?

After all, “Inclusion is something we strive for.”

For the Associated Press to even bring a subject like this up ahead of the games demonstrates a complete lack of integrity. The athletes who compete in these games have earned their spots on their respective teams, and suggesting that any team is “Too White” proves that the publication is devoid of common decency.

Whether the AP or any other liberal likes it or not, inclusivity in today’s society often represents the opposite of equity and fairness.

At the Paris 2024 Olympics, there were no white athletes among the 83 competitors representing Kenya. The country has a small minority of white citizens, and the Olympic team was not surprisingly composed of athletes from the country’s dominant ethnic groups.

Similarly, Norway is roughly 85-90 percent white, Germany is 85-88 percent, Austria is 88-92 percent, Finland is 94-96 percent, and Sweden is 80-82 percent. So, it makes perfect sense that their Olympic rosters largely consist of white athletes.

I guess that simple fact was easy for the Associated Press to ignore when compared to the opportunity to stir up needless and senseless controversy.
