Swalwell As Usual Picks The Wrong Guy At The Wrong Time
With the exception of the NBA, I love sports. Iโm fortunate because my better half also does, so during the day, itโs a safe bet there will be several different sports shows on TV.
Last July, Fox Sports entered into a major partnership with Barstool Sports, so in our area, the first morning show on FS-1 features a rotating Barstool crew. Itโs different from most other shows because of the laid-back atmosphere and the variety of things the group will discuss. Itโs very loosely scripted, so it isnโt unusual for them to go off on a tangent, very similar to a group of friends just sitting around talking sports.
Barstool Sports is a leading digital media brand that was founded by Dave Portnoy in 2003, initially as a gambling newspaper based in Boston. Over the years, it has transformed into a significant multi-platform presence that covers sports, pop culture, and lifestyle topics, appealing mainly to a highly engaged audience aged 18-34. Known for its candid, humorous, and often controversial style, Barstool Sports generates substantial engagement through podcasts, videos, social media platforms, and broadcast TV.
Politically, Portnoy and the Barstool Culture represent “Barstool Conservatism,” a term that describes a combination of libertarian views on social issues, such as gambling and cannabis, along with a stance against what they perceive as political correctness. Although often associated with the GOP, the brand sometimes conflicts with traditional religious conservatism due to its lenient views on lifestyles. Barstool basically aligns with the right wing of American politics primarily through its cultural opposition to progressive social norms and “woke” politics.
After the bombing of Iran, Portnoy posted on X:
โI always laugh at yo-yos who donโt have the 1st clue what information the President had that forced this decision. Even politicians who despise him but were briefed on the situation seem to agree with this operation. I guess lotta podcasters know better. Gotta keep the lights on somehow. Borderline traitors if you ask me. Iran is a terror nation with a long history of some of the worst human rights atrocities in the world. Nobody disputes that fact. They hate Americans. They hate Israel. They hate all Jews. They hate the West. They would kill us all if given the chance. They just murdered tens of thousands of their own people. The rest of the Middle East is on our side. The Iranian people are on our side. It isnโt that complicated to support our Troops and our country this morning. We are on the right side here. God Bless America.โ
No matter what side of the aisle youโre on, everything that Portnoy wrote about Iran is true. Iran does have a long history of horrible human atrocities. The leaders do hate America and everything about Western Culture, and they make no secret about wanting to kill Americans and Jews.
Liberals only criticize this decision because the Trump Administration took the initiative. If Obama had initiated this, oh wait, thatโs right, Obama literally sent them pallets full of American taxpayers’ money. He was too weak to stand up to the terror that Iran represents to the world. You canโt negotiate with terrorists, and you certainly canโt buy them off.
Portnoyโs post supported the American military and told the truth about Iran. It also inadvertently exposed the hatred the radical left has for American values when one of the biggest Democrat clowns, Eric Swalwell, decided to attack Portnoyโs opinion.
In a post on X, Swalwell threw this worthless thought out in an attempt to stay relevant.
โStick to sports. Youโre at least half-right there.โ
โYour whiny ass ainโt going to an Iran battlefield anytime soon. Itโll be poor kids from where I grew up. Life must be pretty comfy in your suite. Stick to judging your favorite pizzas. The adults will sort out the wars.โ
Swalwell is clearly outmatched here. You can say Portnoy is many things, but he definitely is not a โwhiny ass.โ Also, there are no Americans on an Iranian battlefield, and your attempt to appear down to earth by saying, โitโll be poor kids from where I grew up,โ is a joke. You were raised in Dublin, California, which isnโt exactly Compton. Lastly, and probably the most egregious of your comments, is that you tried to insinuate that you were an adult, capable of making tough decisions, which, if we are judging by thoughts or actions, you are most certainly not.
Portnoy did not hesitate in his response to Swalwell, and once again, what he wrote was accurate and truthful, which had to infuriate Swalwell because Iโm sure he was hoping his exploits with Christine Fang (Fang, Fang), a suspected Chinese intelligence operative between 2011 and 2015, were by now forgotten.
โHey Eric, Iโd never heard of you, but a quick Google search said you were literally removed from the House Intelligence Committee for having your office infiltrated by a Chinese spy named Fang Fang. Canโt even make it up. Maybe sit out the National Security lectures. Politicians, man.โ
If Swalwell was looking for exposure, he got what he wanted. The world now is once again keenly aware of his ignorance, although there was no need to post it on a social media platform; he reveals that every time he opens his mouth.
