California Wants Exposing Crime To Be A Crime

Yes, you read that correctly. Democrats and the far left are no longer the phony wizard hiding behind a curtain like in the Wizard of Oz. They are right out front, being loud and proud idiots, because somewhere in their genetic makeup, they see being stupid as being progressive.

Before we crack into the Democrats’ latest journey into the truly absurd, let’s take a minute to explore that word, “progressive.” Democrats are masters of projection. If you ever hear a Democrat accusing a specific person or the Republican Party of something that sounds sketchy, you can bet that they are doing themselves what they are accusing the person or party of doing.

In other words, what they are saying is the exact opposite of what is taking place. Which brings us to the word “progressive.” Democrats love to call themselves “progressives.” Yet, there is nothing progressive about hiring someone or granting someone acceptance into a college based on skin color instead of merit.

There is nothing progressive about allowing men to play in women’s sports, using their bathrooms or showering with them in their locker rooms. There is nothing progressive about allowing people to enter our country illegally or putting violent criminals immediately back on the streets.

What’s progressive about defying science and nature by encouraging children to question their biological sex? Not only is that not progressive, but it should also be considered criminal. Encouraging and promoting mental illness and child mutilation is sick and disgusting. It’s also proof that Democrats will appeal to any group, no matter what harm it causes, in the search for power.

Their newest venture is another idiotic move into “progressive crime control.” After being embarrassed by the fact that a CBS News investigation has uncovered evidence suggesting widespread fraud in California’s hospice care industry, especially in Los Angeles County. The report examined the licenses and business records of approximately 1,800 hospice care centers in the county, revealing that over 700—about 42 percent—raised red flags for potential fraud.

That’s 1,800 in Los Angeles County alone, with over 89 in one building. To put that in perspective, New York has 38 in the entire state, and Florida, where many retirees live, has only 94.

So, what does California do when presented with this fraud? Why they go after the people who exposed it of course. Acting like a spoiled child, Gavin Newsom’s office posted a fake photo mocking Nick Shirley for investigating California’s fraud crisis. Shirley wasn’t pleased and went on to find another $170 million in fraud.

Then, to protect those committing the fraud, California Democrats introduced Bill 2624. The intent of the legislation was so obvious that Republican Assemblymember Carl DeMaio named it what it really was, the Stop Nick Shirley Act.

The legislation, introduced by Assemblymember Mia Bonta, a Democrat from Oakland, prohibits individuals from sharing personal information about immigration nonprofits, legal clinics, and healthcare providers funded by taxpayers online.

Violators face a $10,000 fine or imprisonment.

That means that a person could go to jail for filming the same empty buildings Nick Shirley filmed, the ones that collected millions from your tax dollars. Here’s the catch, because there is always a catch when California is involved. Bonta is married to California Attorney General Rob Bonta.

Indeed, the wife of the state’s top law enforcement officer is drafting a law that would stop citizens from investigating the organizations that her husband’s office would need to prosecute.

Undaunted, Shirley walked straight into the California Capitol and asked every Democrat he could find to explain their actions.

Of course, nobody had answers, or they simply slammed the door. Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas stated that he was unaware of the bill before closing the door.

Assemblymember Josh Lowenthal acknowledged on camera that he signed the bill before actually reading it. Sen. Sasha Renée Pérez described Shirley’s concerns as a “misinterpretation,” but he could not specify what exactly was misunderstood.

Then the always inappropriate Sen. Scott Wiener told Shirley on camera, “I think you’re a psycho scam artist,” and slammed the door.

Wiener calling Shirley a scam artist is priceless, but it shows how deluded Democrats are. They co-sign bills without reading them; the bill’s author is married to the Attorney General, who would enforce it. When a citizen appears with a camera asking basic questions, they resort to name-calling and hiding.

DeMaio sees this calamity for what it is:

“You read the bill, and you realize that it’s against the First Amendment. It criminalizes citizen investigative journalists who take video and expose fraud.”

He’s right, that was their intention. Shirley exposed Newsom and California officials for what they are: hateful, greedy narcissists who wrap legislation in lies and feed it to the naïve voters in the state as sugar.

What Shirley exposed was obvious, but nobody in that God-forsaken state will do anything to benefit the taxpayers. It’s a safe bet that the state officials’ inaction didn’t go unrewarded.

Really, 1800 hospice facilities in one county? 86 in one building? Come on.

Shirley’s findings triggered a federal investigation. JD Vance’s anti-fraud task force suspended 447 hospices and 23 home health agencies in Los Angeles, all suspected of fraud against Medicare and Medicaid.

The total fraud estimate exceeds $600 million.

That’s a staggering total, yet it is from only one investigation, in one city, in one state.

This clown, pretending to be a governor, Newsom, thinks it’s a joke. In response to Shirley’s findings, he didn’t launch his own probe; instead, he posted a mocking, AI-generated image of Shirley arriving at a daycare covered in cameras.

Shirley’s answer to Newsom was the one that went viral: “Start working for the people and not against them.”

Assembly Bill 2624 is so blatantly irresponsible that these liars cannot be allowed to spin it as something beneficial. It is nothing more than an off-ramp for fraud, allowing those who are stealing from taxpayers another shield against justice.

Newsom has not just hidden this fraud; his inaction has propelled it to unimaginable levels. Still, despite flushing an entire state down the toilet, he thinks he can be president.

Incompetence is not an enviable character trait, but that’s the only one Newsom brings to the table.
