Dang, Arcadia Mayor Wang Ends Career With A Clang

Arcadia, California, Mayor Eileen Wang resigned yesterday after admitting she acted as an unregistered foreign agent for China, promoting the countryโ€™s propaganda.

Wang admitted to sharing content directed by the Chinese government, which included articles that denied the persecution of Uyghurs in Xinjiang.

Wang resigned from her position as mayor after the case was made public on Monday afternoon.

According to court filings, Wang, who served as the mayor of the suburb in the San Gabriel Valley, pleaded guilty and entered into a plea agreement with prosecutors. She was charged with acting under the influence of the People’s Republic of China to promote propaganda in the United States between 2020 and 2022.

Wang, who was elected to the City Council in November 2022, resigned as mayor on Monday shortly after the plea agreement was made public. Officials in Arcadia, along with Wangโ€™s attorneys, stated that the conduct described by federal authorities took place before Wangโ€™s election.

In late 2020, Wang and Yaoning โ€œMikeโ€ Sun, her former fiancรฉ, collaborated to operate a website called โ€œU.S. News Center,โ€ which โ€œclaimed to be a news source for the local Chinese American community.โ€

The Justice Department said in a plea agreement that Wang and Sun:

โ€œReceived and executed directives from PRC (Peopleโ€™s Republic of China) government officials to post pro-PRC content on the website, and sometimes sought approval from PRC government officials to circulate other pro-PRC content.โ€

In June of 2021, the agreement states that Wang received a message from a government official regarding “China’s Stance on the Xinjiang Issue.” The message included a link to a letter to the editor in the Los Angeles Times from the consul general of the People’s Republic of China in Los Angeles. This letter was a response to a Times editorial that supported a boycott of products made with cotton produced in the Xinjiang region of China.

At that time, news reports highlighted the Chinese government’s campaign of incarceration, persecution, and “reeducation” of Uyghurs in the Xinjiang province.

China obviously sought to deny what was taking place in Xinjiang province, using Wang and Sun as their conduit to do so. Their statement read:

โ€œThere is no genocide in Xinjiang; there is no such thing as โ€˜forced laborโ€™ in any production activity, including cotton production. Spreading such a rumor is to defame China, destroy Xinjiangโ€™s safety and stability.โ€

According to court documents, minutes after receiving the link, Wang posted the article and responded to the Chinese government official with a link to the article on her website.

She received the obligatory pat on the head from the Chinese official who responded, โ€œSo fast, thank you, everyone.โ€

Prosecutors state that Wang also edited articles upon officials’ request and shared information indicating the extent of the posts’ reach.

According to the plea agreement, in August of 2021, after receiving a compliment from a Chinese official for an article that had over 15,000 views, she wrote: โ€œThank you, leader.โ€

On another occasion, in November 2021, Wang sought to share an article about the Chinese and Russian ambassadors urging Americans to respect the PRC’s “democratic rights.”

Wangโ€™s attorneys must think that everyone is as naรฏve as the California voters who put this traitor in office. They stated that:

โ€œthat the conduct underlying the information and the agreement with the government relates solely to Ms. Wangโ€™s personal life โ€” i.e., a media platform that she once operated with someone whom she believed to be her fiancรฉ โ€” and not to her conduct as an elected public official.โ€

Bullsh*t. This is a person who was hyping CCP propaganda and having direct communication with CCP officials. So donโ€™t try to sell us on the fact that it had no effect on how she conducted herself as mayor. Her extracurricular activities consisted of being an unregistered foreign agent for China, so save your no harm, no foul argument for the people who think Newsom is a good governor. Those of us who still live here on earth can recognize a liar and a cheat.

The city manager, Dominic Lazzaretto, said in a statement that the city has conducted an internal review related to the charges and found no wrongdoing.

โ€œWe can confirm that no City finances, staff, or decision-making processes were involved. We have found no actions that require reconsideration or that are invalidated as a result of these developments.โ€

Right, she made sure the sidewalk cracks were filled, so is that supposed to excuse her from using a website to publish pro-China propaganda and โ€œpre-written news articlesโ€ directed by Chinese government officials from encrypted messaging apps like WeChat?

I donโ€™t think so.

The maximum sentence for the charge is 10 years in prison, which isnโ€™t nearly long enough. Letโ€™s pray she receives the max, and serves the entire time, and not one day less.
