With Friends like this Who Needs Enemies: What the Democratic Party’s Mistreatment of Senator Fetterman Reveals

The political winds can blow both fast and furiously in today’s more polarized and intense environment. With sharp lines being drawn by both Republicans and Democrats on many issues, and neither party willing to compromise, many leading liberals and conservatives have at times found the middle of American politics increasingly nonexistent. While there were some brief and largely performative attempts by Democrats, such as Michigan Governor Whitmer, to reach out to Trump, those efforts were short-lived and largely minimal in nature. Compromise has, in many ways, become a dirty word in Washington, particularly for the Democratic Party, which has had the sole branding of being anti-Trump for nearly a decade now.

One Senator who has learned how difficult the middle of American politics is to navigate right now is Pennsylvania Democratic Senator John Fetterman. The long-time mayor of Braddock, a small town in the Quaker State, was elected in 2022, and the Democratic Party almost uniformly cheered his political victory just 4 years ago in the critical swing state. A lot has changed over the last 4 years, however. Even though Fetterman votes with Democrats nearly 90 percent of the time, the more moderate politician committed to unforgivable sins in the eyes of today’s extreme Democratic party, which is increasingly dominated by a radical left-wing faction that is intolerant of dissent. The Pennsylvania Democrat came out strong in support of Israel, and also reached out to Trump, visiting him at the time President-elect at his home in Mar-a-Lago, Florida, right after the 2024 election.

The playbook of the current American left who increasingly control both extreme and radical Democratic parties, is not new, the cultural revolution in China and the assault on the First Amendment in Europe by people who espouse this ideology show who many of these ruthless individuals truly are. These leftists believe in manufactured consent, an idea put forth by Noam Chomsky, who talked about creating fake stories and false narratives to move public opinion where certain politicians want these individuals’ perspectives to be. The Democratic left despises Israel, Trump, and conservatives in general. These radicals also have a zero tolerance policy for any individual who is willing to work with or praise the current President. The left has what amounts to purity tests these individuals attempt to impose on members of what this faction views as their Democrat Party.

This is why the disgusting mistreatment of Senator Fetterman, a moderate Democrat who votes nearly 90 percent with his party and represents a state that has gone for Trump twice in the last 3 major Presidential elections, is important. The Republican Party has a number of different factions, including groups of more moderate conservatives such as Marco Rubio, the current Secretary of State, who once supported Amnesty in the US Senate. While MAGA did not like many of Rubio’s political positions, the Republican Party still generally viewed him as an ally in the Senate representing the state of Florida before he took his current cabinet position in the administration. The nasty vitriol directed at Fetterman, who simply met with the President after his victory in 2024, and offered some limited praise of his political movement, shows both how intolerant and extreme the American left that largely controls today’s empty Democratic party is right now. Indeed, many of the moderate voices in the Democratic Party who were prominent in the 1990s and 2000s are slowly being phased out, as the radical factions of the party take over. This was seen more recently in New York, where a Democratic socialist who espouses communist beliefs, Mamdani, won.

While MAGA has correctly been critical of Republicans such as former Senator Mitt Romney or Lisa Murkowski voting to remove Trump, and the RINOs who stand for nothing are correctly criticized by conservatives as well, the right is far more tolerant than the left in the political landscape. The radical leftists who controlled the Biden Administration weaponized the Justice Department as never before to attack both the President and his political allies, and the left also treated even nonviolent January 6th protestors like terrorists. The extremists controlling today’s broken Democratic Party, in most cases, hate this country, are willing to support violence, and are totally intolerant of even modest dissent. These individuals are not just intellectually bankrupt, but dangerous as well, and the recent treatment of Senator Fetter is yet another reminder of who these individuals and the broken entity known as the Democratic Party truly are.
