Why The Cover-Up of the Century is likely to be Finally Exposed in Full Next Week
This is the phrase most associated with Watergate: “The cover-up is worse than the crime.”
While often the mere breaking of the law, particularly if such action violates a technical legal statute or regulation, isn’t a big deal, covering up what happened and lying is often infinitely more damaging politically as well as a more significant criminal act. Just as if Nixon had come clean about Watergate right away, he likely could have survived that scandal, Clinton’s lies about his affair with Lewinsky, not the actual relationship with her, is what led to his impeachment. Trying to stop a bomb from detonating that has already gone off rarely works, and coming clean early usually leads to forgiveness from the American people. Reagan’s exemplary decision to take responsibility for Iran-Contra is a good case study of how to keep a scandal from exploding.
One of the large cover-ups in American history was both the Biden Administration and the regime’s left-wing allies in the press repeatedly and severely lying that the former senile President was competent, or, as these liars stated, on his game. The first Presidential debate made clear Biden was anything resembling competent was a complete and total lie. A shell of himself, the former Vice President and President was barely able to finish sentences at one of the most embarrassing Presidential debates in American history. The lies of the media and many on the left, both inside and in support of the administration, are too many to count or name.
This is why the American people have an absolute right to hear the tapes of Biden giving an extended interview with former US Attorney Robert Hur as part of the investigation into the former President’s handling of classified documents. That case primarily involved an inquiry into how Biden handled sensitive material going back to when he was a Senator. Hur chose not to recommend criminal charges in his final decision against the former President because Biden was not mentally competent, and the US Attorney did not think a jury would convict an elderly man who he thought meant well. Given that the predicate for Hur’s decision was based on the lack of mental fitness of the former President and the fact that this was a criminal investigation into a public figure, the US government should prevail legally in their efforts to make the tapes of Hur interviewing Biden public.
Far more important, though, the country has an absolute right to know just how senile Biden was. The President was constantly shielded from the public eye when he was in the White House. Biden rarely did long interviews or press conferences, he only took predetermined questions most times, and the aging man in mental decline also had his transcripts frequently edited to avoid public disclosure of gaffes and misstatements. This is why an unedited and full release of these long interviews with Hur is so important. There are reports that Biden was unreachable during the US’s disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan, and there is also ongoing controversy surrounding the use of Auto-pen to basically circumvent the President and have aides make decisions for him. The simple fact remains, Americans have the right to know both what the former President’s mental state truly was, and how big the cover-up of his failing mental state was as well. Concealing the fact the leader of the free world was not fit or competent to hold office is without question one of the biggest scandals in the history of the United States, and these tapes, which reportedly show Biden not even being able to remember when his son died or the years he served as Vice President, are vital public information that the country both deserves and has the right know about.
America was lied to every day for 4 long years about Biden’s mental state. The fact remains that the former President was clearly having cognitive issues as early as 2019, when he struggled at times during the Democratic debates, as even other candidates in that race, such as Julian Castro, pointed out. The voters of Iowa and New Hampshire also both rejected Biden in part over concerns about his mental fitness. The intervention in the race by Obama and the establishment leaders, such as Jim Clyburn, is the sole reason the senile former President ever became the nominee in today’s pathetic Democratic Party. Democrats perpetrated a fraud on the American public for four long years, and the economic cost was severe. Biden’s failed withdrawal from Afghanistan was also likely in part because of his failing mental state as well. Indeed, as Howard Baker once famously said during Watergate, “What did he know, and when did he know it?” The Hur tapes should go a long way in answering the critically important question of what and when the prior administration knew the former President was not fit for office.
