Really, High School Has To Explain Why A Boy Can’t Be Homecoming Queen
Come on, do we really have to put up with this nonsense?
These mentally disturbed people are just seeking their fifteen minutes of fame. What’s disturbing about it is that people keep obliging them in one way or another, and it has to stop.
According to Atlanta News First, A senior at Charles R. Drew High School in Clayton County, named Riley Williams, a biological male, wants to run for homecoming queen.
He even went as far as to pay the dues and have a photograph taken for his campaign before he was told that only biological females can run for the title of homecoming queen.
Williams was informed that participation in the gender-specific homecoming court must align with the sex indicated in the student’s official school records. The district provided Williams with the option to run for homecoming king instead.
In response, the delusional Williams told Atlanta News First that “Forcing me to run for something like homecoming king would invalidate my experience as a woman.”
Someone needs to explain to this narcissist that you can’t change the birth sex just because he wants to play dress-up. He has no right to possibly deprive a real woman of this honor.
Williams has no sense of right and wrong, and he has now filed a Change.org petition demanding officials change the rules.
Williams played the ridiculous gender identity card writing:
“The policy in question requires students to run for homecoming court positions based strictly on the gender assigned at birth, ignoring their authentic gender identity. The petition calls for “inclusive guidelines” allowing students to compete for titles based on their gender identity. School should be a place of acceptance, where every student can express themselves freely and authentically.”
To date, 1,300 other fools have signed his petition.
Clayton County Public Schools has stated that the district is adhering to the current federal interpretation of Title IX, which recognizes gender-based distinctions based on biological sex. The district informed Atlanta News First that ignoring federal guidelines could put federal funding at risk.
Being self-centered, Williams disagrees with the district’s reasoning, arguing that homecoming court is fundamentally different from athletic competition.
“For this there is no difference between me and any other girl that would be put on blast. There’s no competitive advantage; as a matter of fact, people are less likely to vote for me.”
“Of course it’s an unfair policy.” Adding that it felt like officials were “hoping that I wouldn’t say anything.”
CLAYTON COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS released the following complete statement:
“Clayton County Public Schools (CCPS) is committed to providing a welcoming and supportive learning environment where every student is treated with dignity and respect. In doing so, we recognize and respect the individual identities and expressions of our students.
However, we also must acknowledge the District’s responsibility to comply with applicable federal requirements. As a public school system, CCPS is required to operate in accordance with federal law, regulations, and guidance. Under the current federal interpretation and enforcement of Title IX, gender-based distinctions are recognized based on biological sex.
Accordingly, where participation in a school activity involves a designation based specifically on gender, the District relies upon the birth gender reflected in a student’s official educational records in making that determination, and not gender identity. So, while the District does not have a policy that speaks to students participating in Homecoming Court based on gender identity, we adhere to the current practice of allowing that participation in accordance with traditional birth gender.
We remain committed to supporting all students and fostering school communities where all students feel valued as members of the CCPS community. To that end, CCPS respects the right of students to express their individual identities, as we balance the requests of our student population individually and/or collectively and legal matters affecting the district as a whole.”
Instead of enjoying the homecoming football game and dance that follows, this high school and its students have to tolerate this nonsense because one punk refuses to accept reality.
The good news is the district isn’t caving in to his moronic request. However, it’s another example of how uncaring someone can be while self-deluding themselves into thinking that this is a noble cause.
