Peacenik Leftists Morph into Neocons
The transformation of the left over the past 60 years has been fascinating to watch from a distance. What was once a movement founded on the principles of peace, individualism, love and brotherhood has morphed into some unrecognizable abomination that practices violence, authoritarianism, hate and sanctimony. In the bizarro world Woke has created, where virtually everything is the opposite of what it ought to be, it should be no surprise that young leftists have supplanted old Kemp Republicans as the new neocons.
Nothing highlighted this odd philosophical shift more than the recent unsettling meeting between Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un.
The two leaders were apparently involved in “very substantive” discussions, but to the dismay of the American press, few details of the meetings were released. Speculation centers on a potential deal that would send North Korean arms and munitions to Russia in exchange for rocket and missile technology.
As the notorious leader of North Korea was seen beaming and smiling as he shook hands with Putin, one couldn’t help but wonder how we arrived at this horrific point in diplomacy and foreign policy in just three and a half years.
Remember that in June 2018, President Donald Trump met Kim in Singapore for a historic summit that produced real results. There was an immediate de-escalation of tensions between the two countries that continued through a second summit in Vietnam and a third meeting in the demilitarized zone that separates North and South Korea.
Among the many accomplishments, Trump secured the return of the remains of U.S. servicemen. He also persuaded Kim to shut down an ICBM factory in Pyongyang and dismantle a rocket testing site. Most importantly, extreme animosity, which defined the relationship for over six decades, began to evaporate. As talks progressed, it was clear Trump and Kim were forging a relationship based on trust, and where there is trust, real progress often follows.
This was exactly the kind of kumbaya event the hippie liberals from the 1960s always longed for. People from disparate backgrounds putting aside ancient acrimony and learning to get along. There is little doubt Trump’s great work with Kim made America safer, and those missiles Kim aimed at Los Angeles were pointed elsewhere.
Oddly, modern leftists were less than thrilled with the summits and the progress Trump made. Elizabeth Warren tweeted: “Our President shouldn’t be squandering American influence on photo ops and exchanging love letters with a ruthless dictator. Instead, we should be dealing with North Korea through principled diplomacy that promotes US security, defends our allies, and upholds human rights.”
The Biden campaign had this to say about the Trump-Kim relationship: “President Trump’s coddling of dictators at the expense of American national security and interests is one of the most dangerous ways he’s diminishing us on the world stage and subverting our values as a nation.”
Leftist Democrats were angry at the idea of peace on the Korean Peninsula, and they weren’t having any of it.
Biden Fixes Things
As soon as he became president, Joe Biden made sure he quickly turned back the clock with North Korea to the pre-Trump state of hostilities. Naturally, that made the military-industrial complex very happy since war and the threat of war are much better for business. Still, what has been most puzzling is the silence on the part of woke, peacenik leftists. Somehow, they have abandoned the dream of peace and cooperation for all mankind and transformed into frothing war mongers, who would rather see North Korea continue its weapons development than give Trump the satisfaction of a diplomatic victory that would keep their children safer. Imagine if Biden had built on the foundation Trump laid with Kim. The question becomes whether we would rather have a nuclear armed North Korea as a friend or enemy? Woke neocons have given us their answer.
Leftists Deliver a Neocon’s Dream
To date, the proxy war in Ukraine has cost the American taxpayer $76 billion with no end in sight. Again, great for business if you’re making TOW missiles, but not so great for the people paying for them. However, the damage to America is not just financial. The war has driven China and Russia into an anti-American alliance that is rapidly evolving, and the Putin-Kim summit would indicate North Korea will soon be invited into the club if they aren’t already in it.
Biden’s insistence on imposing extreme sanctions on Russia has shaken the world’s faith in the U.S. dollar as the global reserve currency and emboldened China in its quest to conquer Taiwan. Many experts question whether the U.S. is even prepared to fight a war with seriously depleted supplies of equipment and ammunition.
Yet, the left seems perfectly fine with another forever war that could easily spiral out of control and ignite WW3. When Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke to Congress in December 2022, leftists gushed over him, almost in a hero worshiping, rock star kind of way. Nancy Pelosi even compared him to Winston Churchill.
While it’s plausible to believe corrupt Democrats, who love the money that comes from the defense industry, would sign onto the neocon forever war platform, you can’t help but wonder what happened to the rank and file woke leftists relentlessly preaching their sanctimonious dogma of peace, love, diversity, inclusiveness and brotherhood?
Apparently, as long as the military focuses on providing trans people with gender altering surgery free of charge, fire up those weapons of war!
