New Customs And Border Protection App Has Report Departure Feature

On Monday the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced a new app called CBP Home with a feature that is sure to irritate the political left.

“The application has a new feature – Intent to Depart – which offers unlawfully present aliens or those aliens whose parole has been revoked an orderly and defined voluntary process to notify the U.S. Government of their intent to depart the United States,” according to a statement Customs and Border Protection published Monday morning

“This new feature is a necessary tool to comply with the President’s Executive Order 14159, Protecting the American People Against Invasion.”

Acting Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Pete Flores said the app “provides illegal aliens in the United States with a straightforward way to declare their intent to voluntarily depart, offering them the chance to leave before facing harsher consequences.”

Other functions include:

• I-94: Apply for and pay for an I-94 up to seven days before arriving in the United States. A Form I-94 is a record of a non-immigrant’s arrival and departure from the United States.

• Inspection appointments: Request inspections for perishable cargo entering the United States

• Border wait times: Check wait times at the border

• Bus Manifest: Submit a manifest for bus operators

As reported last month, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers, for the third time in 10 days, deported a criminal alien or gang member from the Houston area. That person illegally entered the United States at least six times.

This illegal alien has a violent criminal history.

ICE removed Francisco Lopez Melendez, a 32-year-old Mexican national and Suenos-13 gang member, from the U.S., ICE said.

“Melendez has been removed from the U.S. six times and was previously deported to Mexico in November 2013, May 2015, May 2018, October 2018, and November 2019,” ICE said.

“Melendez has been convicted of numerous criminal offenses while in the U.S. illegally, including three times for failure to give identification or providing law enforcement with fictitious information, twice for drug possession and illegal entry, and once for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, stolen property, burglary, driving while intoxicated and evading arrest.”

ICE previously removed Jesus Alvarez Sinecio, a 32-year-old Mexican national deported six times, Feb. 10, and Humberto Romero Avila, a 45-year-old Paisas gang member and foreign fugitive who illegally entered the U.S. 10 times, Feb. 13. Romero was wanted in Mexico for allegedly murdering a 22-year-old Mexican national in 2007 and was convicted four times for DWI and once for larceny, illegal entry and illegal reentry. Alvarez had prior criminal convictions for aggravated assault of a family member, alien in possession of a firearm, DWI, illegal entry and illegal re-entry.

Also, as reported , during the term of former U.S. President Joe Biden, the steady improvement in the educational level of new adult immigrants, which began around 2004, reversed.

During the past three years, more than 3.5 million low-income immigrants have settled in the United States, the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) said in a report.

“Adding so many low-income residents will create significant challenges for the United States,” the CIS said.

“Further, allowing in so many less-educated immigrants significantly increases job competition for less-educated U.S.-born workers and legal immigrants already here. Halting this trend should be an important goal of the Trump administration. Sending illegal immigrants back to their home countries would also avoid the challenges a much larger low-income population would create for the country.”
