A Woke School Board Candidate Knocked On My Door. I Was Blunt.

A guy running for school board knocked on my door last night. I never pass up an opportunity to tell candidates running for office who knock on my door exactly what I think. 

I told him my father taught public high school and the stress of dealing with student discipline and then bureaucrats who refused to do anything about it contributed to him having life-threatening health problems when he was only in his mid-40s.

I also told him that kids who attend public school and want to learn can’t because kids from dysfunctional families create an inhospitable learning environment. This system is more or less enabled and protected by woke idiot bureaucrats who see themselves more as social workers instead of educators. I didn’t even mention the violence that I myself experienced and witnessed as a child who was legally obligated to attend.

As a reporter, I continue to receive emails from frustrated parents and even students who tell me that this still goes on, and no one wants to do anything about it.

The conversation was cordial. I didn’t outright say it, but my subtext clearly was that I don’t think much of public schools as they’re currently managed, and I also think they do a tremendous disservice to a lot of good kids who are more or less trapped there. 

It was a cordial conversation….but after I told him all of this he proved my point that these people see themselves less as educators and more as social workers. He said kids from dysfunctional families can’t help being what they are and need our intervention. He spent more time worrying about the kids from dysfunctional families and less time worrying about the kids who go to school to try to learn but can’t because of the discipline problems. 

I saw this conversation was going in circles, so I politely ended it. Ugh.

I looked this guy up on Facebook. And, yes, he’s another woke idiot blind to the many faults of the bureaucracy he’s so eager to serve. Whereas any teacher with common sense would want more discipline in the classroom, this guy is a glutton for punishment and thinks we’re supposed to roll over for inmates running the asylum. Maybe he feels guilty? Maybe he feels too privileged in life? Or maybe he has no business serving on a school board? 

A lot of school board members and public school teachers adamantly oppose school choice, but they’re also the ones who enabled this system of failing public schools. I’m sorry they’re mad, but they brought it on themselves. The public schools need the competition.

As someone told me today, suicidal empathy has infiltrated our public schools. Problem students should be removed from the classroom so that those who want to learn can. Period.

Why can’t we have people like Dirty Harry running the public schools? We’d be better off if we did. We have too many idiot enablers running our society.
