There’s Something Odd About These Video Testimonials For Bill Cassidy

A thought occurred to me as I was looking at Louisiana U.S. Sen. Bill Cassidy’s Facebook page this past week.

Why do many of the video testimonials endorsing his candidacy — from local and state elected officials — remind me so much of 1980s VHS hostage videos of Americans trapped in Beirut?

Is someone behind the camera pointing a loaded gun at those people? If these people are in danger then can we ask them to blink in Morse Code?

These local elected officials warn voters that Cassidy came through for them on such and such pork barrel project and their parish or city might lose out if the senator gets voted out of office. Some of them panic over losing a senator who has seniority status.

None of that matters.

After the events of Jan. 6, 2021, President Donald Trump was impeached a second time, and Cassidy voted to convict. Cassidy gambled in 2021 that Trump couldn’t get elected dog catcher and that Trump and MAGA were now too toxic to gain another foothold in American politics.

Cassidy also knew he wasn’t up for reelection for another six years and believed voters back home had short memories and as long as Cassidy brought the bacon home then all would remain well.

Nope. Trump got reelected. The voters may have short memories about other things, but when it comes to that vote to convict they’ll never forget and they’ll never forgive.

Cassidy claimed Trump intentionally inflamed a mob on Jan. 6. That is why Cassidy voted to convict. Cassidy acted on information that was blatantly false.

Trump clearly told those who assembled in Washington, D.C. to march to the U.S. Capitol to make their voices heard — and to do so peacefully.

Trump’s voters are loyal to him and see him as a man who was and is persecuted for looking out for the best interests of middle-class voters. Their bond with Trump is too strong to break. Cassidy is too stupid to understand that.

After Cassidy loses his seat, the Kennedys of Massachusetts will no doubt bestow a Profile In Courage Award upon him for voting his conscience. Like any good RINO dunce, he’ll accept. Notice the Kennedys never bestow this award on Democrats who go against the party line?

We should respect a man who votes his conscience. But we should never respect a man who fell for the corporate media narrative and didn’t get the full story before he voted to convict…especially when he knew he was extending his middle finger to his own voters.

Now it’s the voters turn to extend their middle fingers to Cassidy.

Good riddance.
