Democrats Don’t Really Care About Electing Black People, You Know
Since weโre all on the topic of redistricting, the Supreme Court just handed down a huge decision, decades overdue, that ended the requirement for states to discriminate based on race when drawing congressional maps.
The modern interpretation of Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act called for race to be taken into consideration, and Democrats have been using that to their advantage ever since.
When Louisiana created its last district maps after the 2020 census, they created one district that was specifically designed to have a majority of black voters in it. This is a clear racial bias. The map was challenged in court, but rather than saying it should not contain racial bias, the court said the map didnโt have enough racial bias. Louisiana should have two districts with majority-black residents, not just one, they ruled.
So that ruling was challenged to the Supreme Court on the basis that it discriminated against white voters. The court has just spoken.
The lower court was wrong. It is unconstitutional to discriminate based on race in America, therefore race should not be a consideration at all when creating voting districts. The states can not discriminate (for or against) based on race.
Democrats are losing their minds, or at least some are. Not because the โracistsโ are winning, but because they have been milking this legal bias for years to pad their numbers in Congress, and that is about to change.
Donโt be fooled. They will tell you how important it is to discriminate based on race, how electing minorities is the most important thing in the world, but they donโt actually believe it.
Want proof? The only people stopping racial minorities from being elected are Democrats. If itโs really that important, Chuck Schumer should immediately resign and demand his seat be filled by a black Republican.
Not going to do that? How odd.
OK. Maybe a black Democrat then. No? Not going to do that either? Just gonna hang on to that seat youโve had all century.
Or Senator Elizabeth Warren could immediately resign and demand a black candidate take the seat she has held all these years. Elizabeth? You listening?
So strange. But what about diversity? Not so important now.
Her state of Massachusetts currently has no black Senators and has had only one ever, Edward Brooke, elected back in the 60s. A Republican. You think she wants a black Republican back in office? Now THAT would actually add some diversity to a state that has zero Republicans in the Senate and zero Republicans in the House.
In fact, as you watch the hand-wringing this week, just remind them how many opportunities they have to elect minorities, but refused to, because they’re the โwrong kindโ of minority.
John James was an amazing, thoughtful, well-spoken Senate candidate in Michigan. A black man. Ran in 2018 and lost. Guess who the Democrats voted for? Not the black man. Debbie Stabenow, a white woman.
The race was very close, though, and John James was a newcomer, so he ran again two years later. Guess who the Democrats voted for this time? Gary Peters, a white man, and again the black man lost.
Personally, I thought it was a great opportunity for hope and change, but alas, the Ds disagreed.
Gavin Newsom is a pretty rotten governor in California. So rotten he was recently put up for a recall election to remove him from office after his disastrous handling of COVID, homelessness, spending, and pretty much everything else. Everything but his hair is falling apart out there.
Running against him was Larry Elder, a brilliant black man. Elder stood to become the first black governor ever in that deep-blue state. Ready and able to break barriers, make history!
Annnnnnd the Democrats voted for the white guy anyway.
Just this past November. A white woman ran for governor of Virginia vs. Winsome Earle-Sears. Who did the Democrats elect? You guessed it.
So yeah. Spare me the โelecting minorities is so important we need to discriminate to do it.โ
Democrats, if you really want more minorities to be sent to Congress, then join us in voting for great minority Republican candidates. Together weโll fill both houses and some Governor seats to boot.
But no. Not gonna do that, are you? And why not?
We already know why.
Itโs because in spite of all your empty talk, you actually believe that the character, issues, stances, and policies of a candidate are more important than his race.
Just like I do.
Welcome to the Republican Party, amigos.
Actually, welcome to America. Thatโs how we roll.
And thank you, Supreme Court!
