State Spends $189 Million On Convicts So They Can Enjoy Porn And Groom Minors
Itโs almost uncanny how wrong one person can consistently be. Gavin Newsom, for instance, has never had a good idea during his term as governor, and very likely his entire life. Thatโs unfortunate for the people of California; they keep falling for his slicked-back hair and limited intelligence, which he covers up with his snake oil tongue.
Under Newsom’s administration, California’s Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) launched a $189 million program that provided around 90,000 digital tablets to incarcerated individuals throughout the state. While the program was officially intended to facilitate family communication and education, it has encountered significant issues with security and oversight.
You read that correctly. 90,000 tablets at a cost to taxpayers of $189 million. The devices enable inmates to make free phone calls, send electronic messages, and access resources such as e-books, vocational courses, and entertainment options.
Doesnโt all of that sound sweet? Unfortunately, California officials have put as little thought into this project as they did into their high-speed train endeavor, which has already cost taxpayers around $15 billion. Due to significant delays and scope reductions, the estimated total cost to complete Phase 1 of the train lineโfrom San Francisco to Los Angelesโhas soared from $126 billion to over $231 billion.
However, in the case of the state-issued tablets, reports and journalistic investigations have revealed that some incarcerated individuals are able to access pornography and engage in X-rated video chats.
State lawmakers and watchdogs expressed urgent concerns after reports emerged that inmates allegedly used smuggled Wi-Fi or manipulated devices to access the internet and groom or contact minors.
Although the tablets are closely monitored, experts and reports indicate that some inmates have managed to bypass the digital restrictions or “jailbreak” the devices to modify their functionality.
So, congratulations, California. Condemned prisoners on Californiaโs death row are spending part of their time watching pornography and having inappropriate conversations using taxpayer-funded tablets as the state continues its shift toward a Norwegian-inspired approach to rehabilitating criminals.
This is another one of the Democrats’ painfully stupid ideas that cost taxpayers millions. All in the pursuit of what these pinheads call โdigital equity.โ
The California Post interviewed several death row inmates who claimed that users can bypass security measures on their devices. Robert Maury, a serial rapist who strangled and killed at least three women in the 1980s, told the newspaper that he was able to view pornography on his tablet, which is funded by taxpayer money.
Inmates are using tablets to send nude images and access pornography, according to a statement made from a state prison in Stockton. Many of them watch porn through a video chat application that allows an inmate to call someone on the outside, who can then display pornographic content on their TV for the inmate to view.
Digital equity? Really?
Could no one have seen something like this coming? Then again, this is the state that caters to illegals and prisoners. This is also the state that puts men who dress like women into female prisons and then acts surprised when the female prisoners are raped by the men.
Weโre used to hearing about disasters of all shapes and sizes coming out of California, but how about those who live there? Is there ever going to be a time when they have an epiphany and wake up to the fact that Democrats are flushing them down the toilet?
The sad part is that Democrats and liberals will keep hatching these ridiculous schemes in the pursuit of โequity,โ which is like chasing fog. Equity does not and cannot exist in all things, and by attempting to force it into every situation, they do injustice to many.
In this case, itโs once again the taxpayers who will bear the brunt of the Democrats’ refusal to accept reality.
Wake up, California.
