Short Memories, Long Consequences And What Happens Next

A few thoughts about last night’s election results:

• Voters in Texas are about to have the biggest case of buyer’s remorse they ever had once James Talarrico shows his true colors (that they were repeatedly warned about but chose to ignore).

• Democrats will spend the next two years indulging their wet dreams and jeopardizing public safety for the sake of political correctness and appeasing their far-left voters. They will make President Donald Trump look reasonable by comparison, and that helps the Republican presidential nominee in 2028.

• The new governor of Georgia, Keisha Lance Bottoms, served one term as mayor of Atlanta — during the George Floyd riots — and she was so horrible at her job that she decided not to run for reelection.  People vote with their feet. I predict the U-Haul companies in Georgia are about to do big business. They will move to Florida or Tennessee.

• Liberal “progressive” political ideas consistently fail to take human nature into account and have never worked and only incentivize dependence on government. Liberal “progressive” ideas disincentivize and penalize hard work and initiative and care more about good intentions than they do actual results. These ideas are counterproductive to human nature and fail every single time they are tried. This remains a truism of life, despite whatever blunders Republican politicians make in office. And the entire country is about to get reminded of this….again. Unfortunately, voters have short-term memories. They always have, and they always will.

• Jim Jordan wants to be minority leader. MAGA Republicans wanted him to be Speaker of the House a few years back, but the big time Republican donors were adamantly against it. If he had been Speaker of the House and if someone other than John Thune had been Senate Majority Leader then Republicans probably would be in better shape this morning. I should also add that the big money donors hand-picked Thune to be Senate Majority Leader. And you see where that got us. This isn’t all Trump’s fault, and it isn’t all MAGA’s fault, although Trump was stupid to go to war with Iran. Republicans in Congress obstructed Trump from Day One. This comes down to a major disconnect between what the grassroots Republicans want vs. what the wealthy Republican donors want. Something similar is about to happen to Democrats, even though they don’t know it yet. The more moderate Democrats are about to get in a civil war with the Democratic Socialists of America. Keep the faith. Democrats will do themselves in.
